CPAC 2010 - My thoughts

Well, I just watched Glenn Beck's keynote address at CPAC, and let me tell ya. This man is spot on in all his comments about the state of the GOP and America in general.

When I first started I wondered what he was going to do. Was he going to be nice to the GOP, or was he going to be his normal pull no punches self. Well within the first couple of minutes he was slamming (without naming him) John McCain and his admiration for a certain progressive president. At that point I was glad to see that he is not going to pull a punch about anything.

He brought his now trademarked blackboard to the platform and it was met with a "standing O". He taught about the dangers of the Progressive movement that is facing our Country, Future, and Constitution. He talked about the pride that all of us as Americans should feel for our country. We should not try to be more like Europe, they should look to us, Glenn Proudly proclaimed, and I must say. I agree!

As I was watching the 50 minute speech I thought to my own convictions, and where I stand on the current political climate. The message I got, well at least on the them, is that we need to stop accepting the status quo of "good enough" and a little better when it come to the quality of politician we elect. We need to hold our politicians to a high standard, and we need to make sure that the polices set in place are held to that same standard. What standard is that? The standards set in the constitution. We need to completely eradicate the progressive and unconstitutional behavior from Washington DC.

He spoke about mans right to fail. He spoke about how it is a a right to fail and that we should not be stripped of that right. In fact he proclaimed that for the Govt. to do so is harmful to America and its path to success. I have to say, I agree!

Debt and the Economy

For years Americans have been living in a world of gratification. The "buy now, pay later" mentality has become a way of life for many if not most of Americans today. However, times are changing and it is happening even if most of us don't want it to.

In years past, lets say in 2006, a person would go into a store looking at a TV, or to a car lot to get a new car, and when they are weighing the ability to buy said item the thought process may have gone a little something like the following.

"how much down, and how much a month?"

"I can make those payments"

"will my FICO score be approved so I can get this?"

"hmmm I could really use another way to boost my credit."

These are the thoughts of times past, times when all a person needed to do was make the monthly payments. Never mind the fact that any given person could not pay for said item all at once, it just mattered that they could make the payments.

America has been in a world were "credit money" or "imaginary money" is what was used to pay for items. Goods were exchanged for money on a credit card or a loan, to later be repaid in smaller easy to make payments. Cars that cost 35,000 dollars were being sold to people who made 40,000 dollars a year. Didn't matter that the person could not pay for it, they just needed to make the payments.

Times have changed though. All that "Credit Money" has come due, and the lender need it all back. The problem is, it was never really there to give back. The sub-prime market should not have gotten loans that they could not repay, they should not have be approved, but alas they were. Now that this money has come due and it is not there to repay the bubble has BURST!

All this supposed "wealth" that we thought that we had is now gone and we want to keep it, and make it the way that it was a few years ago. The problem is, it can't go back to the way that it was. We were living in an artificial economy, with reality being much lower than where credit allowed it to be.

What is the point of all this discombobulated rhetoric? I guess to get this off of my chest. We all are quick to blame the "free market" or "the US Government for all of our problems. We are all quick to pass the buck onto others, and I have been there myself, but we are all overlooking one very important thing. It is not just "someone Else's" fault, we are to blame as well, and we all have an equal part in this together.

Even though we caused this, WE can fix it. Not the clowns in Washington, or the higher ups on Wall Street. We the People can fix this. Will it be hard? Sure it will. Will we need to go without? Yes, we will most certainly go without some things, but I ask you now. Is that a bad thing? Is it ok to hear that ancient word spoken to us? That word that many of us have forgotten. The word is "no", and we should and will hear a lot more of it in the coming days. But we the people can fix this, and that is were I am looking for answers, not the Hill in Washington DC.

Life As A Conservative

Going through life as a conservative is a very interesting thing indeed. There are so many emotions that go with being a conservative that is makes going throughout life in this day an age an adventure that is for sure. A Roller coaster of emotions would be a good way to describe it.

First of all, at the present time I have felt like I have had to be in hiding, only sharing my views with those that are of the same mind-set on the Internet. Why is this? There are a great many number of things that cause this emotion that I don't want to get into at this time. I would rather just talk about what it feels like to be Conservative.

When conservatives are in control of the White House or Congress I feel attacked. Like I am some sort of a hateful, prejudice person. When conservatives are the minority I feel . . . well the same thing just in a more intense way. When we are in the majority I feel that it is so hard to get the things we really need to help our Country done, and when we are the minority I feel like my rights and liberties are constantly being stripped from me one at a time.

Right now, at the present time, that is how I feel. Like I am losing my Country to some set of ideals that the United States was not founded upon. I feel like I am alone in having faith in the system that our forefathers created. There are so many other people in the world that want to change America, to make it something that it never was, and and what it never should be.

As a conservative I take great pride in my country. America is the greatest nation on this earth, and I am proud the be part of it. I feel great devotion and very protective of our wonderful country and what it was built upon. I don't feel the need to answer to other countries for being the best, and the leader of the world. I feel the need to have our country lead the world. Not for some new world order, but to lead the world to apply the same wonderful and God inspired values that our country was built upon.

I watch the news every day and I feel sad, I feel heartbroken that the beliefs that I was taught growing up about how our country worked are being stripped one at a time, and I can see it on the news. I feel sad that there are people out there that are trying the "change" our country, and to make it what the rest of the world wants it to be. Mediocre.

Is it really that important that we hold true to our core beliefs and not compromise on them? Is it really essential that we fight to defend our country from ourselves? Is it really right what is going on in our country?

Big Love thoughts

It seems more and more that I am seeing people of my faith (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - LDS) write different things about the upcoming Big Love TV episode which will feature some content that is showing sacred portions of LDS Ordinances.

People continue to organize groups to boycott, Time Warner, HBO and AOL as a result. They move to file complaints with the FCC, and just in general speak ill of the entire situation and all of the those that are involved. I guess I can give my views on the whole issue however, I don't think that I am going to be of the same opinion as most of the other outspoken people.

Do I like that the HBO series "Big Love" is going to show things of a sacred nature? No, of course I do not. I am not saying that I condone the actions at all. Do I like it when there are protesters parading around Temple Square in SLC during General Conference with Garments making a mockery of it? No, of course I do not. I however don't give them the satisfaction of a reaction from myself, which is the very same counsel the leaders of the LDS Church gives also. We should treat all with kindness, and respect, and just because others don't do it to us, that does not mean that we should let go so quickly of our feelings.

The Show "Big Love" is a popular show, yes. However, it is not that popular. Compare it to a show like American Idol, 24, Lost, 30 Rock, The Office, Monday Night Football and it does not even compare in viewers. I am of the opinion to just let it go with them. It will blow over and in 1 year no one will even talk about it or think about it. They are not doing it to be malicious in nature, and I am not saying that one should support it. I am just saying do as the Church Counseled its members. Do nothing, and just let it be. It will have no effect on the church and the Lords work here on the earth.

When I first heard about this I was reminded of a story that was shared in a General conference by Gordon B. Hinckly about being slow to Anger which I will quote and then leave be.

Once a man who had been slandered by a newspaper came to Edward Everett asking what to do about it.

Said Everett, “Do nothing! Half the people who bought the paper never saw the article. Half of those who saw it, did not read it. Half of those who read it, did not understand it. Half of those who understood it, did not believe it. Half of those who believed it are of no account anyway”

Conservatives in Hiding

It seems that I have become part the underground Conservative party. I am part of a group of people that believe so many things that once were part of the foundation of our great country, but has now faded into that grey area that can be "adjusted" as we see fit.

As a conservative in hiding, I find that I must be careful what I say in public as I may be accused being and uneducated buffoon. If I say what I think to people about what I see to be reality, and fact I am ridiculed, and told that I am a hateful person, that does not want to see people be the best that they can. Well that could not be further from what I hold to be true. In these times, I feel that the very core of Americas beliefs set forth by our founding fathers are being tried and tested.

As a part of this post I want to do something that I did a long time ago, but I think needs to be re-done. I am going to type my list of things that I believe, and here they are.

1. I believe that the "Pursuit of happiness" reads as it says, and not "the guarantee of happiness."

2. I believe that most people do not know what is is the constitution as they have not read it only once or twice in high school or not at all.

3. That it is a god given right to fail, and to fail really bad. It is also a person right to get THEMSELVES up and go and win.

4. If we take someone right to fail away, as a result mans right to succeed is also taken from us.

5. Obama is a liar, and one of best the world has ever seen

6. Things must ALWAYS get worse before they can get better

7. Gay marriage is wrong no matter how they feel, there is nothing that is right about it

8. It is mans right to be stupid

9. It is mans right to be as smart as he can

10. It is a mans right to make people pay for services

11. NOTHING in life is free

12. Welfare is abused and Democrats use it as a tool to gain votes, and as a result that ones that really do need some sort of assistance are denied for it.

12. McCain was a bad choice as well as Obama

13. Obama is worse

14. Most of Obamas supporters don't have a clue

15. the fairness doctrine is censorship, contrary what the Democrats would have people think

16. President Obama, and the Democratic party, and CNN has on more than one occasion mad a mockery of the office of the presidency.

17. Obama made a bold faced lie about what kind of people he would elect to his cabinet

18. If a Republican made the same nominations the News networks would crucify him/her

19. I DON'T GIVE A FLIP THAT BARRAK IS BLACK. IT DOES NOT MATTER TO ME! Not because I am racist but because I am not racist, and if you don't get that I am not going to explain it.

20. If govt spending was the key to a strong economy then we would have the strongest economy in the world

21. Fighting the Iraq war was the right thing to do.

22. Bush made many mistake as all Presidents do, but I am Proud of the job that he did.

23. If I met President Bush I would shake his hand and tell him that I never did not support him, I stood by him always. (I hope that one day I get that honer)

24. I would shake President Obmamas hand out of respect only, and that is it

25. Obamamania makes me want to puke

26. I am sick of people thinking that President Obama is our saviour and the most glorious person ever to walk the earth

27. I am sick of Govt. hypocrisy. (from both sides)

28. Job Biden is not even remotely close to an Average Person, he doesn't have a clue.

29. No one in govt is like that.

30. I still don't understand how preventing the spread of STD's will help the economy

31. That woman who asked Obama for a house got a very different treatment because she was Democrat and appealing to progressive socialist ideals. If she was a Republican I imagine much like Joe the Plumber.

32. Democrats are scared of Conservatives with opinions, and I think they want all of us to be silenced

33. Glenn Beck, Rush, and all the others I think are right on

34. Nancy Pelosi can't be our best choice for a speaker.

35. People should speak English in this country

36. Universal Health care is a bad idea

38. Free Food is not a right

39. People should not be forced to help others

40. Guns should not be taken away from the people

41. The Constitution is NOT a living document. The Lord inspired it, and I don't thin he was wrong

42. The day that we start removing God from society, and Govt. that is the day we begin preparing the destruction of our Country.

43. Terrorist do not have Rights

44. POW's don't have rights.

45. Our Enemies are not playing by the same set of rules

46. We are at war right now, and it is a bigger more deadly war that most people realize

47. I am scared of what Obama and other Socialistic Govt leaders are going to do to our country

49. It pains me to see people fail, and if I can I wan to help them. However I want to see them fail so that they can get up and be better for it.

50. I have failed and I learned the most from the times that I was down. Yea it was hard, and I don't want to do it again, but I never would want someone to Rob me of those experiences.

not 20 days into this new administration, the Dems are trying to load the US with a $1.2 trillion+ (yes trillion, there is at least $300 billion in interest you must account for) stimulus package, that seems to resemble more like a Christmas wish list.

If I hear a Democrat say that G.W. Bush was a bad president because of a the debt, or if I hear one say that the republicans got us into a massive amount of debt. I will Punch them in the gut, I wont even warn them or say anything, I'll just do it.

This is really getting old, where Dems yell and scream about the wrongs of the republicans, then they do the same things themselves, only they do it all the way. I have only seen more partisan efforts as a result of Obamas efforts.

Obama has dropped from a 96%+ approval rating to a 70! I think that people are starting to see it already. And it is only 14 days!!

I would have loved to see Obamas face when he got his first security briefing.

Obama: You mean they are serious about trying to kill us? They really do want to kill us? I thought that they were just bluffing, and that you republicans were just making it all up to get ahead. Crap, I gotta act like Bush and keep those wire taps! *Thinks to himself: It's ok the media wont do anything about it, they still think I can walk on water he he he.

So Obama followers, I hope he does some better work in his next 100 days or he will meet Bushes approval rating in his first 100 days. Oh not that wouldn't be good.

p.s. I still hope that I am wrong about Obama, and I hope that he does good things. It is just not looking too good. I don't want America to pay the price of Obama not doing a good job.

DC Weather Wimps

Wow! I agree with Obama 100% on something. He referred to DC Residents as "weather wimps" and I must say that I agree with his statement.

The fact that DC schools, and Offices close at the slightest bit of snow is absurd. As a former Chicago Resident myself I understand where Obama is coming from. Chicago is quite possibly one of the coldest places I have ever been. I know that EVERYONE says that about their state, and town, but unless you have gone trough an average Chicago winter you don't even know. A bad one would literally kill many people who are not from there.

in my 5 five year tenure there as a school attending resident I never once saw my school get canceled on account of weather. People here say it is because we are not equipped to handle the snow. Well that is not the reason at all. Chicago deals with it just the same as we do here, the people just know how to drive in it, and they are not wimps.

Picture 10 degree with a windchill that pushes it to -10 or more. (if you have never experience a -10 degree windchill, it is worse that 30 below) 3 feet of show with ice below it, and me standing at the bus stop to wait on the bus along with every other resident of Chicago. And yes, we still go out during recess when it is that cold. You just wear a coat. (and a good coat I might add)

Now picture this. 23 degrees and windchill at 19 degrees, 1/4 inch of ice with 1 inch of snow. and everyone is sitting at home and the whole city shuts down. by 10 am the roads are fine, and people still don't go anywhere.

well I knew that Obama and I had to agree on something, and here it is. DC residents are wimps compared to a Chicago one. (referring to winter)

Total Cost of Stimulus Legislation: $825 billion

How does this compare?

- In 1993, the unemployment was virtually the same as the rate today (around 7%). Yet, President Clinton’s proposed stimulus legislation *only* contained $16 billion in spending

- The total cost of this one piece of legislation is almost as much as the annual discretionary budget for the entire federal government.

- This legislation nears a trillion dollars. President Reagan said the best way to understand a trillion dollars is to imagine a crisp, new stack of $1000 bills. If you had a stack four inches high, you’d be a millionaire. A trillion-dollar stack of $1000 bills would measure just over 63 miles high.

- In $20 bills, a trillion dollar stack would be 3150 miles high. That’s about the distance between DC and Trujillo, Peru.

President-elect Obama has said that his proposed stimulus legislation will create or save 3 million jobs. This means that this legislation will spend about $275,000 per job. The average household income in the U.S. is $42,000 a year.

This bill provides enough spending to give every man, woman, and child in America $2,700.

This bill will cost each and every household $6,700 in additional debt, paid for by our children and grandchildren.

Although this legislation has been billed and described as a transportation and infrastructure investment package, but only three percent ($30 billion) of this package is for road and highway spending.

Much of the funding within the proposed stimulus package will go to programs which already have large, unexpended balances. For example, the draft bill provides $1 billion for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), which already has $16 billion on hand. And, this year, Congress has plans to rescind $9 billion in highway funding that the states have not yet used.

Deficit spending will not expand the economy. If that were true, then the current $1.2 trillion deficit -- the largest in history -- would already be rescuing the economy. $800 billion more will not change that.

Trade groups state that every $1 billion in highway “stimulus” can be spent creating 34,779 new construction jobs. But Congress must first borrow that $1 billion out of the private sector. The private sector then loses or forgoes roughly the same number of jobs.

Japan responded to a 1990 recession by passing 10 “stimulus” bills over 8 years (building the largest national debt in the industrialized world). Their economy remained stagnant and their per capita income went from the second highest in the world to the tenth highest.

So there were countless organizations that got all over G.W. Bushes case for wire tapping without a warrant. In fact it ranged over the entire board. Law makers, Journalist, columnist, average people, and on & on & on.

So I am hearing now that our BELOVED and glorious Barrack Obama is going to be keeping this law and NO ONE IS SAYING A FREAKIN THING!!! Classic undermining of a conservative president. Even at the expense of national security. Makes me sick that I can see this and it is happening so fast. I want to give our glorious Barrack a chance, I do, I really do. It us just getting harder and harder to do so. I fear what he is going to do to our country. We will lose what we are built on. What our founding forefathers really wanted for our country.

I don't have much time so I will be brief.

Thanks Obama!! Lets spend our way out of Debt and economic woe with 850 Billion Dollars!! I have debt myself, so I think that I am going to spend my way out of it too! I just want to make sure that if I try that and it doesn't work that you will bail me out. I am all about a free handout I don't deserve. Please give it too me! It will make me feel better if you do.

Also what else do you plan to do for me?! you know I could go for some food stamps so I don't have to spend my hard earned money on things like food. I would much rather spend that money on things like move tickets, DVD's, That new Blue Ray player to go with my 52 inch 1080p HD TV I just got. Oh Obama, you are the answer to my prayers! I can do what I want and have no worries about it. I won't even have to worry about how I am going to pay my mortgage payment now!

This past weekend on black Friday a Wal-Mart Employee was trampled to death by shoppers trying to get their Wii, Playstation, Sweet new Ipod or some other device or item that was knocked down 25%. I am absolutely disgusted with the type of person that would think "oh my Gosh I MUST get to that thing first! The person behind me will help the person I just stepped on! MUST GET IT FIRST!!!!" Now I know that I am exaggerating a a bit, but the point stands that it is sad that this happened, and that it happened so people could SHOP!!!!

The following is an expert from the NY Times about it.

"The throng of Wal-Mart shoppers had been building all night, filling sidewalks and stretching across a vast parking lot at the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, N.Y. At 3:30 a.m., the Nassau County police had to be called in for crowd control, and an officer with a bullhorn pleaded for order.

Tension grew as the 5 a.m. opening neared. Someone taped up a crude poster: “Blitz Line Starts Here.”

By 4:55, with no police officers in sight, the crowd of more than 2,000 had become a rabble, and could be held back no longer. Fists banged and shoulders pressed on the sliding-glass double doors, which bowed in with the weight of the assault. Six to 10 workers inside tried to push back, but it was hopeless.

Suddenly, witnesses and the police said, the doors shattered, and the shrieking mob surged through in a blind rush for holiday bargains. One worker, Jdimytai Damour, 34, was thrown back onto the black linoleum tiles and trampled in the stampede that streamed over and around him. Others who had stood alongside Mr. Damour trying to hold the doors were also hurled back and run over, witnesses said.

Some workers who saw what was happening fought their way through the surge to get to Mr. Damour, but he had been fatally injured, the police said. Emergency workers tried to revive Mr. Damour, a temporary worker hired for the holiday season, at the scene, but he was pronounced dead an hour later at Franklin Hospital Medical Center in Valley Stream.

Four other people, including a 28-year-old woman who was described as eight months pregnant, were treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

Some shoppers who had seen the stampede said they were shocked. One of them, Kimberly Cribbs of Queens, said the crowd had acted like “savages.” Shoppers behaved badly even as the store was being cleared, she recalled.

Is it really that big of deal that this happened? Is it really just an "accident?"

This is NOT Wal-Mart's Fault, and the Union in that area that is attacking Wal-Mart for this is pathetic for trying to capitalize on this persons death from uncivilized people that came to shop there. too bad the people responsible can't be prosecuted because it will be to hard to prove anything.

Proposition 8 thoughts

I have been reading on various forums and newspapers peoples thoughts about Proposition 8 and the LDS churches involvement in it. People have been getting really upset about a couple of things. First of all that they lost, and second that the church had a large involvement in it.

My thoughts on this are pretty simple. Even if 100% of all LDS members voted for the proposition it would not have been enough to pass it. It needed support from many people, in fact from a majority of the state. The fact that it passed means one thing. Those that did not want it to are a minority and therefore they are the losers. They Lost! They don't get it their way! The other people don't like their view! NO!

This world today does not allow for losers, and they can be winners. Well in the real world that is not how things work. You are not all winners, some of you are losers. I woke up Wednesday a loser, as I supported John McCain. I'm a LOSER!!!! So I like that I lost? Nope, not one bit, but I did and no amount of whining is goign to change it. So the people that are "vote no to 8" voters you lost, and I am sorry, but please stop the attacking, and if you have a problem with it then maybe you should realize that a majority of people don't like your view, and that you need to do something about it. I can assure you that attacking people is not the way to get there, and it will only hurt your cause.

People have gone as far as to now want to remove the tax exempt status of the Church as a result of it. (there is a website with a petition, but I am not going to post it as I disagree with it) Some people are even saying that they are going to boycott church business. People say that the church is not a loving organization, and that it is hateful and not accepting of gays. one person on a newspaper comment section said that what right is it of the churches to not allow two people who love each to get married? I think these people forgot who we say runs our church. God.

Last I checked God was pretty much not OK with Gay and lesbian activity. Last I saw in the Bible he condemns them lays down the law concerning it. We do this, because God said so. I have many Gay friends, and I have no problem with them, I count them as friends and I have no problem with them being around me at all. I don't agree with marriage no longer being defined as between a man and a woman, but as far as some other civil right go I am fine with it. Just not marriage. I support my Gay friends in their choices, but I still disagree with it.

If the people that wanted Gay marriage were a majority than it would have passed. This is a country where the majority rules what happens. Everyone does not get what they want just because they want it. If people want it changed again, then they need to raise support and become the majority to win.

Before I get started on this topic I want to be VERY clear about one thing. I am a conservative. I am for small government, and I am not in any way for the progressive socialist movement.

The last few months I have been just absolutely disgusted by the mainstream media. They have been so biased, and I think that as the years play out and time passes people will look back at the media today and they will be using it as a lesson as what we should try to avoid in the future.

The Media has become so arrogant, that they send the message that they have the power to decide what is right and what is important. The word “fair” has no meaning any more. You can see it time and again, and the last few months with this Presidential election it is more apparent than ever. The way the media has been talking about Obama is amazing. They treat him like he is the greatest man on the earth, and he can do no wrong.

Obama is the epitome of political correctness. He is smooth, good looking, a great public speaker, Muslim background, Black, and White at the same time. He has got it goin on, and of course he can do no wrong. He has said things that if they were said by anyone else they would have ruined themselves. He has said things like,

“she is a typical white person”

“Clinging to god or religion as a means to vent their frustrations”

However thanks to Obama he has opened the door for other people to say things, and when the media jumps ALL OVER THEM we can kindly direct them to how they let Obama get away with saying racist and elitist things. Obama is not a typical black person. I can go into details about it but I don’t think that I need to do so. I have no beefs with the fact that he said it. I see nothing wrong with what he said because it is true. There are such things as a typical white person. I don’t think that the typical white person today is racist like he was implying with the above quote, but I would count myself as one of them (the typical (non racist) white person). The problem I have is the fact that the media lets him get away with it for reasons I don’t understand, and if someone else like John McCain said the opposite like “typical black person,” it would never disappear.

I am ok with Obama being treated like the messiah, but I don’t like that he gets it with no basis for it. I no doubt believe that Obama is an honorable man, but I don’t think he is as good as the media is portraying. EVERYONE makes mistakes, and we ALL have problems in life. It is ok to have them, and I would have a problem if one did not have any. Obama is never portrayed to have them, and if one does they are squelched by the media very quickly. McCain is played out to have nothing but problems. I do not believe that is true.

This is not supposed to be an Anti-Obama Blog and I am sorry that is has that spin, but as I said I am a conservative. It is supposed to be about the media bias. The last week the unthinkable happened. I became 3 times more disgusted with the media than I was before. When Sarah Palin was picked to be McCain’s VP the media went on a frenzy. It is apparent that the media does not like to be surprised. They probably feel that they should have had the chance to vet all of the potential people, and when someone off of their radar was picked what did they do? They went NUTS! They had nothing prepared. No one did but a few, and those people had nothing but good things about her and that would just simply not do. Mainstream media was embarrassed. We are not supposed to make our own choices on how we feel about a person! The Media is supposed to do it for us! What was McCain thinking not letting the Media make the choices on if she was good or not? Well I am glad that he did.

Just in case you don’t know. The McCain campaign intentionally kept this a secret. There was not a whole lot of communication so that the media could not get a sniff of it. The face to face meeting prior to the selection was made in secret, and when she was brought down for the official announcement she was brought down on a normal commercial airline and stayed in an $89 a night motel, and was checked in under a different name. Was this fair? I don’t know, and quite honestly I don’t freakin care! The Media will say that this was not a fair way to do this, but who cares what they think.

The Obama campaign has such a grip over McCain in the media of course the McCain campaign is going to play this out right to upstage Obama as best as they can. They let us all know about this choice right after Obama’s speech and totally blew him out of the news. It was great. There was nothing on this person out there, and for a couple of days I had all the time I needed to my research on this lady and find out who she is, and what she stands for without having to wade through all of the bias media mud. The Media did not like this at all because if one did this they would probably like her, and I mean a lot.

One would find that she is just like us. She is what Obama and Biden pretend to be. She is real, and knows what life is like for the rest of us. So as this happened what did the media do? They posted awful things, and got dirty in their tactics. Attacking her family, making false outrages claims with no proof whatsoever. I am not going to say what they were, as you can do a Google search and find out all of them in about 5 seconds. They had nothing prepared on how to tear her down as a person and as a politician so they had to get dirty about it.

I just hope that as the weeks play on that the media will calm down and take a more fair, and honorable approach on how they deliver the news to us. There are some people that due to what they have done I will not even watch because I am so disgusted at how poorly they go about News Broadcasting. It is ok to like one person more than another and to let it come out in your message, but please be more honorable and fair in how you do it.

If you want to attack her, than attack her. Leave her family out of it. We had to do it for the Clintons with Chelsea. I just want to see some sort of fairness on the news. I am talking about within the same organization. MSNBC could perhaps try to be a little fairer in what they say about the republicans in contrast to the democrats. MSNBC and the New York Times are the absolute worst about biasness. They are so bad about it, and it is so obvious.

In 3 days the New York Times carried 67 articles attacking Sarah Palin. Everything from "she's no Hillary"; to her hair looks "20 years out of date"; to "her Fargo accent"; mentioning her husband DUI charge from TWENTY-TWO YEARS ago; attacking her 17 year old pregnant daughter; bringing up "trooper gate" without key details, and on and on. Maybe a little over the top? Barack Obama has been on the cover of Time Magazine SEVEN times this year alone...McCain, twice. Obama stories have outnumbered McCain news stories by almost 4-1 in the media.

I am going to conclude with one example of how different the media can be. Just with a simple picture.

I have SPS Really Bad

Man I have a wicked case of SPS (Sarah Palin Syndrome). The more I learn about this woman the more I am filled with hope for the future of this country. The more I see and hear about this woman the more and more I like her.

Tonight I watched her give an AMAZING speech! At the Republican National Convention she gave a speech so amazing I was cheering at home for her. She is Real, and I can identify with this person. When I look and Obama and or Biden, there is absolutely NOTHING I can identify with. They try to make him out to the a man of the people, and that Biden is just like us. Well I am here to tell you that they are not, unless you make LOTS of money a year. Like 4 million last year to keep up with Obama. They don't have a clue what my life is like.

When Palin talks, and you just give here 10 minutes to tell you about herself you can see that she is a regular person. She has a family, and it is filled with highs and lows. She has a son that is about to be deployed to Iraq. Her husband is a fisherman, and a great husband. She also is the mother a special needs child. She is a person that knows how hard it can b

e at home, and that there is a proper way to help out people. She understands that Taxing us into oblivion is not the way to do that.

I would love to give my commentary on her speech, but I don't think it needs any. I am sure that the media is going to sound byte her to death, but if you don't watch the entire speech then you have nothing to say about her. She covers it all, and shows that she is every bit as qualified to do the Job as our beloved savior Barrack Obama if not more so. (yes I watched the ENTIRE DNC)

Our Friend with the Gambling Problem

Lets pretend you have a friend who has a gambling problem. He is behind on his bills. Like, WAY behind, and there is no food in his house, and you know this because he comes over to mooch off of you to get food all the time.

You feel bad for him, and you wish that you could help him. Then one day he is over at your place and he tells you that he is about to get his power turned off because he is too behind on his electric bill. You as how much and he tells you the amount. It is not too much, and you can spare it no problem so you give him some money to pay for his electric bill, because hey, why not? He is in need, and you have the money to spare.

So you give this friend the money and guess what? He doesn't pay his bill he does what he always does with is money. He blows it on gambling!! You know he has this problem, but you thought that he would spend it on his bill. Needless to say his power gets turned off, and as time moves on, he gets his power back on, but he is still way behind on all of his bills, and is racking up the gambling debts and fast. Again you feel bad about this, and feel bad for him. He needs the help and you make plenty of money and you manage yours well, and you give him some money to pay some bill, and put food in his fridge.

You then find out that not only did he not pay his bills, and he did not buy food other than a few Red Bulls but he blew it ALL on gambling. Your friend HAS A GAMBLING PROBLEM!!! HELLO?!?!? You give him money and he is going to blow it on gambling. He needs some help, and he needs professional help. Not a hand out.

My friends! The Federal Government is that friend with a gambling problem. They Rack up more and more debt, and they just want more and more money. You do not fix a gambling problem with more money. Well that is just how many many of Americans want to take care of the problem.

These are all things that many Crazy people want. you would never give your friend with the gambling problem more money so why would you want to give the Federal government more money? They have a bad record of managing money. They just plain suck at it.

If you read that list (and it is a small one. Should be a lot bigger) you need to understand one thing. THEY ARE NOT FREE!!! There is nothing free in this world. Someone paid for it and just because it was not you it does not mean that it was free. Just means that you did not pay for it. People don't understand that, and if they do they just don't care that it is just a redistribution of wealth in its early form. They want the hand out.

Is it really a good idea to raise taxes to give the money to a government that can't manage what it has already (NO the Democrats can't do a better job. They make it worse. (yes Republicans are not much better)) Is it really going to get better if the beloved and holy Obama wins? Is it really going to improve if McCain the old Battle ax wins?

My Thoughts on the Canidates (more a rant against Obama)

Oh boy I can't wait for the election year to be over. I am not sure what I am going to blog about. I really don't want to talk about the candidates so much, but I feel compelled to do so. I want to lend my opinion about the different candidates and perhaps this will shed some light on why I do it so much.

First I want to state, that I am a conservative (not a Republican). I believe in capitalism, and letting the free market work out problems. I think the Federal Government is very bad at business and money. If I could I would never do business with them based on their track record of how they run things. Sadly I must do business with them or I will go to jail. I hate hate hate hate hate hate socialism, and I feel that is is my right to fail miserably in life and business, and also I feel that it is my right to make so much money that I light 20 dollar bills on fire just because I think it is funny and I will not miss it. If I work hard I want my money to stay with me, and not be taken from me and given to the commonwealth of the world.* Also if I fail, I want to fail and pick MYSELF up, and hit life again.

With that said here is my take on the candidates. I REALLY dislike both of them, however I dislike one WAY more than the other.

1. McCain, John: A Democrat disguised as a Republican. I am having a hard time seeing the difference between the two parties now a days. It seems that Republicans are just Democrats that like Bankers. But I feel that he would not screw up the country beyond fixing. There are many many many things about him that I do not like for example, he is not good with Economics. I feel that right now the nation needs someone that help the Economy as it is in need of some big time help. I do however, feel that his foreign policy will be alright. I don't think he will allow the US to be bullied, and he will not kill the military.

2. Obama, Barrack: If you just looked at how the media treats this man you would think that he is our Savior. Here to save us all from the bad things of the world! I have so many problems with this man I am not even sure where I need to begin. What has the man done? Not much in his EXTREMELY short government history. He is a socialist in every sense of the word, and scares me to death what he will try to do with this country should he win. I am honest and truly scared of him winning. I will vote for McCain only because I am running away from Obama. Has nothing to do with the likability of McCain, just that I am terrified of Obama.

He twists things all the time to make them sound better than they are. He can inspire a large group of people, but he does not put any real substance to his speeches. He just uses the right words that invoke the kind of emotion that he wants from people. (just a quick note: inspiration should not be a good reason to vote for a man. Last I checked Hitler was pretty good at it too) He makes promises that can't be kept and people believe that he can for example:

"Barrack Obama promises to fast track alternate energy!" Uhhhh first of all do you really think that we are going slow on it? Last I checked there are lots and lots of people, groups, organizations that are going as fast as they can, and they could care less what the President says. IT sure does sound good though. "Fast Track" lets see if I can do it.. . . . oh I got one "I Chris Terrell promise that if you elect me president I will fast track our education policies." that was fun, I see why he does it all the time.

His new tax policy will raise it so much, that if you make over 250,000 dollars a year you will be taxed 57% did you catch that? 57% of you income will be TAKEN from you. That is 142,500 dollars taken from you, leaving you with 107,500. "Well the rich people don't really need that money, other much poorer and needier people need it, and they wont notice it anyway" or "they are just paying their fair share." I know I am going to sound like a hater but, I DON'T CARE!! If I make that money you can guarantee I worked my butt off for it, and I don't want anyone taking it from me! It is MINE!

When I look at him I see a man good at what he does and he knows it. Sadly what he does is not tell the truth or represent the people. He does, and will do what HE wants and that is all that matters to him.

So there you have it. I don't like either of them, but I think some things about Barrack Obama that I can't say on the Internet, but I think he is a lier, and a deceiver. His wife is awful, and he has constantly surrounded himself with terrible people. I hope he does not win, but if he does may God be with America because we will need him more than ever to hold it together.

I know I have been extremely harsh, and politically incorrect, but I am scared so badly of this man, that I must say what I can to whomever I can about this man. This is in no way an attack on his supporters. Like whom you please, but I will not like Obama.

*I think that it should be my choice whom I give money to, and I feel that it is my responsibility as a member of society, and because God told me to. I just don't want someone forcing to do so, and not giving me any say in it. I feel that wealthy people should give but it is still their choice.

Free Compean and Ramos!

The following is a transcript of the Glenn Beck Show from yesterday.

GLENN: We've added a lot of new stations and, you know, a lot of new people that, you know, are just, they stumbled in, they might have been drunk and the radio stuck on this station and then they're like, I can't turn it off now; I don't know what happened. And so now they're forced to listen. So there's a lot of people in the audience that doesn't -- they're not really even aware of some of the things that we have discovered on the Compean and Ramos case. These are the two border agents that were thrown in jail for what it looked like shooting somebody in the back or in the butt as they were running away, just this poor helpless victim and then trying to cover it up. That's what it looks like. That's what the government would like to have you believe. That is not the case.

We go to Tara Setmayer who has been on this case now for how long, Tara? Two years?

SETMAYER: Almost two years, yeah.

GLENN: And you and your illustrious boss in Washington have been on this case trying to set this right and so far you're beating your head against the wall. Let's start with the story, and if we could tell the story here in a five minute period here as much as you can, tell everybody the history of this case.

SETMAYER: Well, in February 2005 Ramos and Compean were on routine patrol down in Fabens, Texas along the border. A drug smuggler was detected -- well, they didn't know he was smuggling drugs yet. A border breach was detected by Compean, he radioed it in. They gave chase to a van, started to speed back toward the border. The individual, which is Aldrete Davila, he abandoned the van and decided to head for the border on foot. At the time other border patrol agents joined the pursuit and the drug smuggler confronted Compean on the other side of a drainage ditch on his way back to Mexico. At the time Compean tried to arrest him, he tried to apprehend him, they got into a scuffle and shots were fired. In the meantime Ramos is climbing down this drainage ditch to assist his fellow border agent. He hears shots fired. As he emerges, he sees Compean on the ground, he sees a drug smuggler running away. He shoots at him. He thinks he has a gun. He doesn't know what's happening. He shoots at him. He hits him, but he doesn't know he hit him because the guy kept running and escapes back to Mexico, where on the other side of the border there were other people waiting to pick him up and take him away.

As they walk back, they noticed that inside this van is a million dollars worth of marijuana, about 750 pounds. So other agents are on scene including two supervisors. The mistake they made, they did not orally report the shooting.

GLENN: But it's important at this point of the story to know that supervisors were on the scene.

SETMAYER: Yes.

GLENN: Others were there. It is almost a loophole there that they nailed them on and said, well, they didn't report the shooting. The idea was they didn't need to report the shooting. People were on the scene.

SETMAYER: That's right. And border patrol regulations state that they're only supposed to orally report it. That supervisor is supposed to file a written report. So this is a policy violation. It's not criminal. Well, three weeks go by. They catalog the drugs. You know, the guy absconded, he escaped to New Mexico. You know, routine day on the border so one would think. Anyone who knows or is familiar with what's going on in the southern border, it's a war zone there. So the fact that they weren't shot is actually a good thing.

A few weeks go by and we find out that the Department of Homeland Security has opened up an internal affairs investigation because the drug smuggler that they shot grew up with a border patrol agent in Arizona. The incident happened in Texas. Their families talk and they find out that Aldrete Davila has been shot by a border agent. So this agent in Arizona takes it upon himself to research what's going on, look for the shooting report.

GLENN: Okay. Stop for a second. This is an important thing for people to really focus on for just 10 seconds. A border agent who grew up with a drug smuggler in Mexico. Their families still talk. The drug smuggler called -- the drug smuggler's mother called the border agent and said, "My son's just been shot on the border," et cetera, et cetera. So you've got the connections now between the U.S. border agents and a drug smuggler. Now, it's never been -- nobody's ever accused this guy of being a dirty border agent, if I'm not mistaken, Tara, right?

SETMAYER: Oh, that's correct. No one questioned or investigated the nature of this relationship.

GLENN: Correct.

SETMAYER: I mean, he was best friends with the drug smuggler's brother. He accompanied the drug smuggler's sister on her 15th birthday. They have close ties.

So we move forward. No one seems to think anything's wrong with that. They move forward and Homeland Security opens up this investigation. They send Christopher Sanchez, who is the investigator, down to Fabens, Texas and they send him over into Mexico to find the drug smuggler. They offer him immunity, free border crossing cards and free healthcare to come back across the border and testify against Ramos and Compean.

Now, at this point Ramos and Compean are arrested, and I have to tell you that when they interviewed the other agents who were on scene, those other agents' stories changed dramatically from their initial version of events to what they testified to at trial. Basically they were all given proffer letters, which is some sort of an immunity deal after --

GLENN: We won't come after you.

SETMAYER: That's right, we won't come after you if you tell us the "Real" story.

GLENN: Right.

SETMAYER: Which was that Ramos and Compean shot an innocent guy as he was running away. Now, anyone who knows Ramos and Compean or just looks at the basic facts of this case, it's reasonable for them to believe this gentleman was armed. Sara Carter, who is a reporter who broke this story nationally, she interviewed Davila's family and they said that he's been running drugs since he was 14 years old and he was never seen without a gun.

Now, during the trial that image of Mr. Davila was completely changed. He was a poor innocent waif who was just smuggling drugs one time to pay for money for his sick mother's medicine -- to get money for his sick mother's medicine. We all know that that's not true. As a matter of fact, while he was under immunity waiting to testify against the agent, he smuggled another load of drugs four months before the trial. The government knew it and they went before the judge and asked all of that evidence to be sealed so the jury would never hear about it.

GLENN: Which is highly unusual when somebody is convicted -- or when somebody else is arrested again. During a trial usually that person is thrown out.

SETMAYER: Well, the interesting thing about this, Glenn, is that he actually was not arrested. According to the -- this is --

GLENN: I know.

SETMAYER: This is where it gets interesting. According to the DEA report which we were able to obtain, about six months after all hell broke loose, they had already been convicted and Johnny Sutton was denying that the October load ever happened and he was, you know, speaking in lawyer, lawyerly terms to try to deny that that had ever happened because it was all under seal. One day the DEA documents show up at my door and it was proof and it was a full account of what happened in October of 2005 before the trial. And what happened is that Davila was identified as dropping off a load of 800 pounds of drugs at a stash house in Texas. When the DEA and border patrol raided that stash house, they were told by the U.S. attorney's office that no one was to be taken into custody at that time. That came from Johnny Sutton's office. So it's very curious why they didn't pursue arresting anyone at the stash house even though they fully identified -- the occupants of that stash house fully identified Aldrete Davila as being the individual who dropped off that load of drugs. So no, technically he wasn't arrested. Why the hell not.

GLENN: Now, Johnny Sutton at the time said there weren't any of these cards that helped people go across the border and if he knew where he was, he would make sure that he was arrested and all of these things, which have all turned out to be false. Johnny Sutton I believe is a dirty official and I believe the dirt and the grime go all the way to the President of the United States. I think this is a -- my spider senses, everything in me tells me something isn't right. But to try to get anybody to talk is impossible. I've talked to several people who have been instrumental in this case and other cases like it, who have been -- who are instrumental at the highest levels that are now starting to say, "Wait a minute, you know what, I was part of, you know, X, Y and Z and now I see I've been lied to and being used and we're in real trouble because there's something else going on. But they won't go on the air because some of these people are still sitting in those positions and they are trying to figure out what it is. But they are looking.

SETMAYER: Glenn, let me tell you. When we first start -- when members of congress first started to raise the profile of this case a year and a half ago, right before the agents had to report for it to begin their prison terms in January, there were a lot of very strange things going on, including the fact that Department of Homeland Security officials lied to four Texas members of congress.

GLENN: This is where I got involved.

SETMAYER: Yes. This is in September of 2006 when members of congress first started to investigate, they asked for a briefing from Homeland Security to say, okay, what's really going on here. Well, those Homeland Security officials told those members of congress that, one, Ramos and Compean confessed; two, they knew the guy was unarmed; and three, that they said they wanted to shoot some Mexicans that day. Well, that didn't sit too well with those members of congress. So they asked for proof of these allegations. And guess what, that proof never happened. And for four and a half months after that, the official report of investigation that was used to prosecute these gentlemen was not released. It hadn't even been finished yet, which is highly unusual. And it took members of congress complaining and going public about it for the Homeland Security department to finally release the report of investigation which they did under classified -- it was classified first. And then we said, that's not acceptable. So they released a redacted version. And guess what. None of what they claimed was in that report.

GLENN: Didn't the -- didn't the head of Homeland Security or one of the head guys of Homeland Security actually say in testimony in congress that you had been -- congressman, I'm sorry, you have been misled?

SETMAYER: Yes. He said misinformed. It was the inspector general Richard Skinner. He was being questioned by congressman John Culberson and that was his response: Well, I'm sorry, but you were misinformed. Well, you know, where I come from, that's called a lie.

GLENN: Yeah. Now, Tara Setmayer is with Congressman Rohrabacher and she and the congressman has been on this nonstop. Congressman is going to join us tone. In a few minutes I'm going to play some audio. Dan, is this the first time this audio has been heard? Okay. You probably have not heard this audio most likely. It is audio from the jurors saying, "Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. If I would have known these things about the drug smuggler, things would have been wildly different." And it shows how -- because remember, "The jurors have spoken. Don't you believe in the rule of law?" No, not when the rule of law has been so turned upside down on its head. Justice is justice. You've got to make sure that it is equally applied and there's not something else going on. There is something else going on. We're going to give you that audio which has not been heard and has not been played on this program until today. We will give you this audio here in just a second. And also somebody who has been very, very close to this case with some more insight coming up in just a minute. But also when -- Tara, when we come back, Tara actually had to speak to Compean and Ramos yesterday. It was just Ramos yesterday that you spoke to?

SETMAYER: Yes, just Ramos.

GLENN: And she broke the news to him. Remember, he's in solitary confinement, quote, for his own protection. We will get that story from her coming up in just a second. Don't miss a second of the next few minutes on the Glenn Beck program.

GLENN: Tara, yesterday -- we've got about two minutes. Tell me what happened yesterday afternoon when you had to deliver the news yesterday afternoon that the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals had denied the appeal for Compean and Ramos?

SETMAYER: Now, I had my normal status call scheduled already yesterday and we got the decision about 30 minutes before I had to speak to Nacio and so, I being sure that his lawyer was on the phone, because I honestly couldn't bring myself to break the news to him but I was on the call and it was devastating. It was one of the most difficult conversations I've ever had to endure. Nacio was crushed. You know, he was obviously upset and his biggest concern was, Tara, what can you do to get me out of solitary confinement. These gentlemen are enduring conditions worse than prisoners of Guantanamo Bay. He is in a cell 23 hours of 24 hours a day. He is not allowed on weekends. He is not allowed to watch television. He is not allowed to socialize with anyone. He is in the hole.

GLENN: He does, he does listen to the radio, right?

SETMAYER: He does.

GLENN: He does listen to this program?

SETMAYER: He does. He's listening to this program. And Nacio, we're fighting for you. It is -- I, last week, what is it, two weeks ago I actually spent some time with your wife and it was -- I didn't take it lightly when I looked her in the eye and said, there's a lot of us fighting. There's a lot of us that believe in this cause and we are not going to give up. And it was something that you don't say lightly to somebody who has somebody in prison for something that you believe is an unjust verdict but I tell you it is a sentiment that runs through a large sector of our society that is aware of this case.

SETMAYER: Well, Glenn, I agree with you and it's amazing to me how the President and Johnny Sutton can sleep at night if they looked into the eyes of the wives and the children of these agents, I can't imagine they would feel the same way. I can't believe, was it really worth it for them.

Hello everyone,

As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to 'The War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States. I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he

really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

Obama supporters please post

Now I know with the introduction of google reader that less and less people are inclined to post on different blogs, when they no longer need to visit the site. However, I have a question that I would like to have answered by Obama supporters because I can not seem to find the answer.

My question is.

What is Obamas policies? What is this Change that he is promising?

All I ever hear from him is change, but I don't really ever hear what he is proposing that is that different that anyone else? Other than the fact that there are a few things that are a lot more left than pretty much anyone else, he is just the same in policies.

Also I have on more thing that I would like answered.

How come he changes his mind on policies and stands all the time?

I see this as a sign that he does not really know what he wants, he does not have the experience to be able to make firm resolutions and see all of the facts. I know that some of the time he changes his mind because he learns something new or sees a different perspective that changes his opinion, but someone more experienced would not have that happen to them near as often as he does. He seems to me to see things very narrowly, and does not really appear to know what he is talking about when it comes to real world application of ideas and policies.

So again if there is any Obama supporter that can tell me the answer to my question then please post it, or let me know where your blog is so I can go and read it.

Again the questions are.

What is his policies on anything?
What is the change that he keeps promising?

The Nazis of DC

So for my Wedding my wife and I went to take wedding shots at the Washington DC Monuments. We both love DC a great deal, and we thought that I would make for some really great shots. However, you think that you would be able to just walk up and take pictures just like all of the other 9000000 people that are there everyday. NOPE! not true. We learned that you have to have a permit to take professional pictures there. What constitutes as professional? Ones you pay for. Makes me wonder if I had just not paid her if I could have done it for free.

Fortunately for us (us being The Girl and I) we learned that you have to have one of these handy pieces of paper before our wedding day. 100$ dollars later had a one day pass to take pictures. Now there are some more catches to this.

1. you can't just take pictures anywhere. Places like Arlington Cemetery are off limits. Kinda morbid for wedding shots so we were not too sad about that one. Also monuments like the one that you see here. You can only take them on the outside pillars, and you can't be inside them. We did it anyway, but not without getting caught by the Nazis. I'll tell you some more about them in a minute. You also can't get the actual statue of Jefferson in the shots.

There are a whole other slew of rules, and don't worry they give you this nice big packet full of diagrams, and rules for you to follow. This is a Government thing we are talking about here, so it is a lot of them. Also most of them are just kinda dumb.

catch number 2. You must deal with the Monument Nazis. There are these people that roam the monuments looking for wayward, and misguided tourist to whip back into shape. They are the security guards. We learned that there are two kinds of them there. they are:

1. Those that are making sure people stay out of trouble
2. Those that "take the job to seriously" (as quoted by a member of number one)

The people of group number 1 are great. They kindly make sure that we have a permit, some of them just ask and that is enough. They also say nice things, and make sure to let us know that there are people of the sort that fall into the number 2 category.

The people in number two are. . . Nazis. They were so bad that one of them told our photographer that she needs to hold her backpack on her, and that she is not allowed to leave it on the ground. He said an unattended bag is not allowed. So apparently 6 feet away from an open camera bag, while holding a camera aimed at two people is appropriate wedding attire is not enough to dictate that the bag is not "unattended." Then the guy proceeded to watch us, as we so kindly ignored his moronic request.

There were other stories of them such as making sure that we were not standing in the wrong place. One guard yelling to another Giraud to run and check us for permits, and one even tackled me after I dripped some sweat from my brow onto a bench. OK I made up that last one, but it would not have surprised me if it happened.

However even with the DC Nazis it was a great experience. I highly recommend getting wedding shots done at the DC monuments. The tourist are great. They take pictures of you, and I mean it is blatant, like from 4 feet away they are aiming them in your face. My beautiful bride was even filmed for bit. People would honk and yell congratulations from the road, and a tour bus full of people even applauded us! All in all it was great. As soon as I get the pics I will post some of them up for all to see.

Cap and Trade and gas prices

Cap and Trade is not a good idea, and it will probably cause our gas prices to rise some more. Do you like 4 dollar + a gallon all the time? I hope so cause if it passes that is what you will get at some point.

Also I say Drill in Alaska. The Environmentalist and people in Washington are going to bankrupt many many companies, and people are not going to be able to buy things they need because,

A. it cost too much

B. I used up all my money in gas to get to the store to find out it cost to much.

Really, think about it. Just just find the most environmentally friendly way to drill for oil in AK, and then lets drill the heck out of it!(and anywhere else for that matter) Don't wait for the perfect way to drill, it is not there and it will take to long to find.

I mean come on! Is it really that hard to see that we are not fixing the problem? Flex fuel, and Bio fuels. . . . ok that was not a good idea. Many people are starting to see that now. I am not sure if I have a blog on here or not that talks about it (i'll have to check, and see, I have wrote one though) but I said a while ago that it was not the answer, and I have never supported it. All bio fuels did was rise the price of corn and other foods. I am all for new technology to help us. I do drive a hybrid, and I love the fuel Econ of that thing. I don't really care that I kill less polar bears, but I like that I pay less then you do for a tank of gas and still go farther than you do. Anyway not the point. The point is I like technology helping us out. But it is not going to do it fast enough. We need the gas prices to go down so that we can make it. We need money to spend developing new technology.

Is it really going to ever get any better? Is it really going to help to have a new president or are the same problems (or heaven forbid worse ones) going to still hang around? Is it really over four dollars a gallon for gas here? (yes it is)

Yea, Sure this is a fair country.

Along Crowded 16th St., Residents And Congregations Turn a Cold Shoulder To Mormons' Plans For a Church With A 105-Foot Steeple

If 16th Street is famous for leading straight to the White House, it is also God's Boulevard, with at least 45 congregations lining the seven-mile stretch between Lafayette Square and Silver Spring.

But love thy neighbor? Not this time.

The Mormon church's plan to build another house of worship, one with a steeple-topped tower that will rise 105 feet, is inspiring less-than-holy thoughts among residents who recoil at the prospect of a new flock traversing their streets.

It's not just the traffic and parking congestion that they predict the Mormons will bring to 16th Street Heights, their lush residential neighborhood north of Mount Pleasant. And never mind that the area already has a dozen or so congregations, not to mention a host of other institutions such as schools and day-care centers.

But a tower that's the equivalent of 10 stories high?

"What are they trying to prove?" said Stuart Peacock, a lawyer who resides around the corner, his narrowing eyes punctuating his disgust. "It's too much."

Gloria Eblan, a software engineer who lives across from the property, at 16th and Emerson streets NW, envisions the kind of raucousness associated with a throbbing nightclub, not a church. She insists that a jackhammer-thumping construction project, followed by a weekly parade of chattering congregants will disturb her ever-precious peace.

"I don't want to come off as the anti-Christ, because I'm not. I just have my apprehensions," said Eblan, a crucifix around her neck. "The noise is going to drive me crazy. We're just trying to live our lives."

Dozens of homeowners have expressed opposition to the new church with lawn signs that read, "Too Big, Too Much, Too Many." And the Mormons are finding little support from the neighborhood's clergy, including one pastor who said his objection is rooted not in architecture, but theology.

"They don't accept Jesus as the Messiah; they accept him as the prophet," said Edward Wilson, pastor at Church of Christ, a block from the Mormon site. "It's wrong, I disagree with it, and I wouldn't want them in the neighborhood."

Mormon leaders have been surprised by the opposition, in part because so many churches are located there. But they said they're confident that their reception will improve once they build their two-story brick church, which will host two Sunday services and seat 240. The church will offer underground and aboveground parking, which the Mormons promise will minimize the congregation's affect on the neighborhood.

As for the steeple's height, they said it is a stylistic flourish necessary for an attractive church. "If you take out the steeple, it looks like a big home," said Jeffrey Holmstead, an environmental lawyer who serves as first counselor for the Mormons' Washington stake. "We want something that will be a credit to our church and the community."

The Mormon's tower would dwarf the neighborhood's detached homes, many of which are two and three stories, as well as nearby congregations, although the Sixth Presbyterian Church, a few blocks north, rises to about 90 feet.

Yet the Mormon's tower would be shorter than other congregations, such as the 160-foot All Souls Church, a mile south at 16th and Harvard streets NW. There are several soaring steeples at that broad intersection, which is also home to several apartment buildings. And the Mormons' design is a veritable afterthought compared with their Silver Spring temple, which is 288 feet tall, or the National Cathedral, which reaches 301 feet.

Lawrence Cook, a Falls Church architect who designs churches, said a common guideline is that steeples or towers should be up to twice the height of the building's roofline. By that standard, he said, the Mormons' tower is more than appropriate. In fact, he said after seeing a rendering, "It's too low. It looks like it sunk into the ground a bit.''

Congregations have migrated to 16th Street since the early 1800s, when St. John's Church opened on Lafayette Square, across from the White House, and became known as the "Church of the Presidents."

As the city evolved, and wealthy homeowners gravitated to the 16th Street corridor for its proximity to power, an eclectic mix of congregations followed, from Baptists to Episcopalians, from Jews to Buddhists, a roster that reaches 75 if adjoining streets are included. Some denominations have built national headquarters along 16th Street to enhance their stature, including the D.C. Baptist Convention and the National Church of the Nazarene.

"The congregations are like anything else, they're competing for membership," said David Maloney, the District's state historic preservation officer. "The logical place to locate was 16th Street."

But 16th Street has also been a decidedly residential strip, and homeowners over the years have railed about the encroachment of not only churches but organizations such as day-care centers and schools, particularly those that take over properties once occupied by families.

Just north of where the Mormons are moving, a civic association in 1994 protested the migration of such institutions. District officials responded by adding a bureaucratic hurdle, requiring a special permit for groups using a property for anything but a residence along 16th Street, between Colorado and Military roads.

"If you left your house on a Sunday morning to get bagels, when you came back there would be no parking," said Ellen McCarthy, a consultant to the community group, who was also the District's planning director. "The expectation is that one can enjoy the neighborhood without people coming and going to dances, without loud conversations on the street, without Bible studies or AA meetings."

No such protections exist in the Mormons' new neighborhood, which they said they chose after searching for more than eight years. The Mormons paid $4 million for a 1.5-acre corner site, which had been occupied by a convent.

"It was hard to find something in the city, because there's so much development," said Gordon Daines, the project manager. "Every time we'd go look at something, someone else would get it."

At first residents paid little attention, assuming that the Mormons would move into the nuns' building. But then a demolition team showed up and cleared the property. "Everyone was in shock," said Doreen Thompson, an attorney for the District's Taxicab Commission, who lives across the street. "Can you imagine the trucks just rolling in?"

After the Mormons unveiled their plans, the neighbors organized a coalition, started a Web site, and printed 250 lawn signs, most of which they say they have distributed. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D), who lives a block from the site, has not put up a sign, though he has listened to the opponents' concerns.

Residents are lobbying the District to extend the protections granted to the neighborhood to the north. Without the city's intervention, however, their capacity for stopping the church is limited because the Mormons do not need a zoning variance. Still, said Thompson, "We would hope that a church would be sensitive to us."

The Mormons, Holmstead said, are happy to talk about the building's design, including the tower's height. But he questioned whether a revision would "get us any good will with the neighbors."

The Mormons are not without support in the neighborhood, at least from one pastor who says residents opposed his church when it moved into a sanctuary on Colorado Road in 1986. "They tried to run me out but I pressed on," said Bishop Harvey Lewis, of the Star of Bethlehem Church of God in Christ. "I exercised my rights and my desires to move my church there, and the other brother has the same right."

True enough, acknowledged Barbara Flowers, a retired public school principal, sitting on her stoop a few blocks from the site. But her priority, she said, is far less lofty. When she drives to her church, Zion Baptist, around the corner from the Mormon property, will there be enough street parking?

Flowers shrugged and glanced at her husband, Hamilton, as she tried to summon biblical wisdom.

"If we can't agree . . .' What is that saying?" she asked.

"We will bless each other," Mr. Flowers said, "and go on our merry way."

I hate you!! their just words, they don't mean anything. I want to hang out this Friday. Just words, they don't mean anything. I hope that you guys that are reading this think that I am nuts, cause well. . . .I am!!! Sure they are "just words" but words are attached with meaning, and with power when they are spoken. They are something that can not be unheard once heard. There are some words, both positive and negative, that once heard, can not be forgotten and will be remembered for the test of time.

They are just actions. Don't look at my left hand, watch my right. The left hand means nothing. As a magician I often times need to get people to look at one hand and not the other. If they look at the other hand, the trick is ruined cause they either saw what I was doing or they now can see it coming so the excitement is now lost, and no longer magical. A good trick has misdirections, false promises, illusions, deception, hope, good acting, stage appearance, and a twist at the end that you didn't see coming.

Well my friends, all of us here in the Good Ol'e US of A are in the process of having a magic trick played on us, and it is the biggest trick of all. It is something that even though you are unaware of it, you are involved. If we don't "ruin" the trick we are going to be duped, and we are going to feel really foolish, and think to ourselves, "where did that come from?"

Now before I give you the link I want to clear something up. I DO believe that words mean something, that words do have power, and that actions can speak even louder than words at times. I think that hateful words should not be directed at people, and even more so to the people that matter the most in your life. There are just some words that should not be used to describe how you feel when talking about or to an individual. Once a word is said it can not be taken back. A wise man once taught me, "you can only shut-up once."

To clear up some misconceptions

I am engaged to the most wonderful girl a guy could hope for. Not only am I getting married, but I am getting married to my Best Friend. I know many of you are like, "yea I would hope she is your best friend." or "Yea my husband is my best friend too." but it is not like we just started dating and became friends as a result. We were best friends for a while before we started dating. There is no one that I would rather spend eternity with than her.

As I have been engaged I am learning that there are a lot of misconceptions about being engaged. Some of them are mine, and some of them are others. I will address some of both.

1. It is all fun and exciting. (mine)

Yes this is true to some extent, but they forget to let you know about all of the stresses that can be involved in planning to get married. Like where will you live, mixing finances, parents, picking a day that makes everyone happy, where to register (that one at times is really a lot of fun though), and the fact that everyone and their dog has an opinion about how you should do it. When on Earth will we get the time to do everything, now that we have moved up our Wedding a month and a half almost. There are others but I will stop there. The point is, there is a lot to get done, and for LDS people we tend to get married kind of fast, so that means that it needs to be done in a very short amount of time.

2. You are different and you don't want to spend time with us anymore. (what others say)

This one is more of a misunderstanding than anything. Allow me to paint a picture of my life. I work out of town 4 hours away for almost half of the month. So, 15 to 20 days a months I am gone, not here, can't be seen. Let me tell ya, when you are engaged it sucks to be gone like that. But alas that is life, and that is how I bring home money, so it must be done.

As a byproduct of this, when I get home I have three things I want to do above all else:

1. Spend time with my fiancee whom I have just spent days apart from.

2. Plan our wedding and two out of state receptions.

3. Wash my clothes from the week.

4. Yea I know I said three but here is a fourth, I often have work to do still when I am home.

Some people complain that I don't have time for them, or that I don't do anything fun anymore. Maybe I don't have time for some other people, but trust me I have plenty of fun. Some people have recently become quite frustrated that I don't ever do anything anymore, and that all I think about is my wedding, or people say that I have changed, and that I don't care about my friends anymore. Well let me clear all of that up for you.

I am about to be married, which means I am about to have a wife. Included in marriage is giving up single life. And I couldn't be happier to leave it.

I also want to clear up something else as well.

I never want to hear anyone blame my soon to be wife for me not doing something. If I don't do something it is because I chose to not do so, and not because she made me. Because it is time for me to grow up just a little bit more, and prioritize all of my life. She is not a controlling person that dictates what I can and cannot do. In fact she is exactly the opposite. However we do talk to each other about EVERYTHING. If I am going to go grocery shopping I tell her. Not because I have to, but because we are 100% involved in each others lives and we want to, and very soon our lives will become just that, OURS, combined forever.

I love this girl more than anything in the whole world. I know that this may seem odd to some people but, I would rather spend time with her than doing anything else. Period. She wins 100% of the time. Why? Because I love her, and I want to be with her. Not because she makes me do it. She never makes me choose, she just lets me make my own choices, and she knows that I will choose her all the time.

Is is not acceptable for someone to talk negative about my soon to be wife in any form. I will not stand for it, and I will not associate with anyone that does so. I will not associate with someone that does not like my soon to be wife. (think about that, if I did, what kind of message does that send to her if I do?) It is not appropriate to talk negative about me making the most important choice of my life, and also the happiest moment of my life. Guys, I am about to be sealed to my best friend whom I love more than anything, for all time and all eternity. That is such a wonderful thing. Some of you may not even comprehend how great that is. And the last thing is, it is not ok to think that I will do something without her, or at least without consulting her. I just will not do so, period. I will not go hang out with girls without her there, even if they are married or there are guys there. It is just NOT appropriate to do so, plain and simple. So if there are girls at all, and she is not with me. I am not going, sorry.

I am not going to be one of those husbands that talks bad about my wife or complains about my marriage while I am not with her. If I have a problem you all can promise that I will not talk to you about it. Not even my parents will hear about it. So don't ask, and don't try to get me to talk negative. If I have a problem I will talk to her, and vise versa.

To some of you that all makes sense, and to some of you that may not. The point is, I hope that one day all of you feel this way about someone very special. I hope that one day everyone that reads this blog will realize that they have someone extremely special in their life, and or that you will one day have someone and that you should always treat that person right. Also I hope that you'll realize that what I am saying is right.

Love you all and I hope everyone is doing well. I am sad that I don't have the time to spend with everyone that I used to, but a new phase in my life is beginning, and I have a lot on my plate right now. I wish that I could make everyone, and everything a priority, but there is one person that will not be shortchanged when it comes to my time, energy, attention, and devotion, and that is The Girl, so as mentioned before, she wins. All the time!

Unions? Yea they suck!

Anyone that talks to me about what I do for longer than 5 minutes will hear about the nightmare of a Union that I have the pleasure of dealing with on a regular basis. Over the course of the last few months I have developed some very strong opinions about unions. In a nutshell I think they suck and that they need to be done away with and or they need to not be allowed to have so much power.

As an self employed person, and one of an entrepreneur type mindset I have very strong feelings on how business's should be run, regulated, and monitored. I am going to try my best to not get on a tangent and stay on the topic of Unions and why I just plain don't like them.

My Fiancee (The Girl) has a blog and she does something that I like and I am going to steal. She gives nicknames to people so that she can talk about them and not use their real names. So as time moves on and I write more and more about my opinions about where I work I am going to start using nicknames. First I am going to establish two names.

1. The Company - My Client that I am doing work for.
2. The Union - always with caps on "The" and "Union". This is the dreadful Union that The Company has a contract with.

When I came to work with The Company I did not really know much about unions, and how they worked. I knew a little bit but in my life I had no reason to interact with one, so I never really learned firsthand about them, and what kind of problems that they can cause. As time has moved on I have learned what the phrase "Welcome to ________(Company name)" means. It is something that can not be told, you can only experience it for yourself.

Please allow me to try to paint a picture of some of the stupid things that the union does. Today was trash pickup day in my office. Here at The Company we pick up trash twice a week and today is that day when I can get my waste that I so proudly created removed from my office. Now as I am one of the people that does all of the workloading, and developing of new policies, and procedures I don't want my office to be accesses by the workers that I am directly effecting. It is not that I don't trust the workers, it is just I don't . . . .ok I don't trust them, but if you were me you would as well. So when Gaps (another nickname) came into my little office suite to get my trash I kindly walked out of my office with my trash can in hand to hand to Gaps to dispose of it. I was working on her work route at the time, and I did not want her to go into my office with all of that strewn about my office. Now there where three other people in the suite, (try to keep these ones straight) F man, someone not worth getting a nickname, and Snake. Snake is a Union Shop Steward. I still to this day am not really sure what that job is other than to piss me off and everyone else at The Company. He thinks that he is the most high and mighty person that walks on the planet, and he knows all things (oh if he only knew how much he is ticking off the higher ups at The Company) Anyway I am standing there with my trash can in hand ready to give it to Gaps, (who is two feel away) and Snake looks over and says,

"you know she could do that for you" referring to me letting her get my trash.

I reply "I know, I don't want anyone in my office so I am giving it to her"

He looks kinda annoyed that I did not listen to him and says "that is bargain business and she can do it" (I am not really sure what that means but anyway)

So I decided to be a punk, and knowing that he wanted me to walk all the way back to my office and replace my container so that she could go and get it, I just stared at him for a moment, and placed the container at my feet. He looked happy and ticked at the same time. It was worth it too see that kinda of reaction.

Now why do I tell that story? Well the concept that he was trying to prove was that I am taking and union persons job. . . . . .ok. . . . . uhhh she is still going to take my trash, and I am positive that there is no shortage of work for her to do. I know cause I am the one that builds and designs it for the site.

Unions prevent me from taking care of my good workers, and punishing those that need it. you can work your tail off every day for years, and when a better spot opens up that other guy that sleep in his closet everyday gets it. Why? Because he was there 6 weeks longer than you. So why would you work hard if you get nothing in return for it? Slowly most of the good workers after getting passed up again and again quit working hard, and they become the lazy closet sleeper, and hall walkers that at they at one point hated so much. They do this cause there is just no motivation to work hard.

We had some great programs that we wanted to roll out that would really be good for The Union workers, and The Companies interest as well. The Union Leaders denied it, cause they knew that it would make it much harder for us, and would cause more problems. Last I checked when you caused problems for your boss you get fired right? Not with a Union, you just say. Oh I'm sorry how foolish of me and then you walk away.

Well I am done venting for now about unions. I know I did not really talk about unions as much as I did a personal experience but I will later. I am bored about blogging about politics.

Hands are an interesting thing. human hands especially are an interesting thing, they allow us to do all sorts of different things. Anything from creating magnificent works of art, to punching some jerk square in the gut. It is an intricate and magnificent creation.

We have 10 fingers (most of us do as least) and 2 of them are thumbs. Each Thumb is controlled my 9 different muscles. The thumb is a really great part about our hands. Julius Caesar recognized this. During the Gallic wars, Julius Caesar ordered the thumbs of captured warriers amputated so that when they returned to their country, they would serve as examples and be unable to bear arms again. This practice was later used in a number of wars and in the slave trade. Who knew huh? Now as great as a thumb is it can sure be annoying when you hurt it. Like if you jam it, or if you break it you will find that life kinda sucks without the full use if one.

We also have fingernails. Yea I know I, Capitan Obvious, just pointed that out to you. They are wonderful, but some people just don't seem to think so. They seem to be so against them that they chew and rip them off every chance they get. Who knew that fingernails could be such tasty little moursels of delight. Well I don't really think so as I am a nail biter, not to a huge extent, I just don't like them long. I don't bite till I bleed or go too short or anything like that. Yes I know it is gross, and I need to stop. Maybe I can get my fiance to help me with that one. She seems to be able to help me with many other things. Did you know that your thumb nail grows that slowest and your middle fingernail grows the fastest?

Be glad you have hands. Lets look at some other creatures that the Good Lord did not bless to have hands.

-Worms, they just can't seem to get ahead in life without hands. Perhaps if they got some hands they would not have to come up from the ground to the concrete only to be squished by 3 year olds that think it is fun. Ok, so that would not matter probably, but you never know it might.

-Snakes. They at least have a good mouth for biting things, so they got something. If they had hands they just might be a lot more scary.

-Walruses. They have flippers but no hands. poor creatures.

-Flipper. ok well, dolphins, but to me all dolphins are flipper.

-spiders. Soooo if they had hands this world make the world a much scarier place. I can barely stand them now when they don't have hands. If they did, and could open doors and stuff that would SUCK.

So that is enough, just be happy that you have hands, and also that you not only have one but you have two of them. If you have three, maybe you should cut it off, and give it to someone who has only one. That is just not fair for you to have three. Unless of course you have 9 kids, then you deserve one more.

Is Wal-Mart really that bad?

so yesterday I heard a story about Wal-Mart and a lawsuit they've just recently been going through. I'll sum up briefly what happened in this lawsuit. there was a person that was hit by Wal-Mart truck and suffered severe brain damage as a result of the accident. Wal-Mart then willingly paid all medical expenses after this, making sure that they had everything that they needed taking care of and place them in the vicinity of $470,000 in a trust fund to cover future medical expenses, as well as past its expenses.

This family then decides to sue Wal-Mart about a year or two later, does not win, but then appeals and wins on their appeal. They had entered into an agreement with Wal-Mart that if they do in fact decide to sue that they would have to give back the money that Wal-Mart initially paid willingly out-of-pocket to cover medical expenses. Wal-Mart and then decided to come back and ask for the money. And when they did they'd been met with nothing but resistance saying Wal-Mart doesn't mean it's not your money we need more than you do. There is even an article in the LA Times at talks about this and presented in this sort of light. Please read this link article.

now, I for one actually agree with Wal-Mart on this one. I don't think Wal-Mart did anything wrong. Sure I do agree with the families reasoning that they need the money more than Wal-Mart. But where do you draw the line? When do you decide who needs the money more and who gets to keep it based on need as opposed to who it rightfully and lawfully belongs to. The money right rightfully and lawfully belongs to Wal-Mart it does not rightfully and lawfully belonged to the individual mentioned in this article. Yes, I'll agree they could use the money more than Wal-Mart can, as Wal-Mart grosses somewhere in the vicinity of $90 billion.

everyone's making Wal-Mart out to be the bad guy in this deal, but if we were to make this on a much smaller scale people would now be calling Wal-Mart, the bad guy and they would be calling the person that I got for going after company. They would be calling them someone that takes advantage of companies and looking for an extra free dollar because they don't want to take responsibility for what happened. I am not in any way saying that that is really what happened with this individual, or the wonder motives may be because I just don't know. All i'm talking about right now is perception, and when Wal-Mart is introduced into the equation the perception is completely changed to big bad business taking advantage of a small person.

as I mentioned earlier, this was in the contract, this was an agreement that the individual went into knowing that if they decided to sue and won, that they were going to have to give the money back. Wal-Mart did not do anything unfair in any way by doing this. The individual's lawyer even went as far as to say that Wal-Mart does not have a right to ask for this money. Since when, can one dictate when the law applies and when it does not?

so you have to ask yourself, is it really that important that Wal-Mart gets their money back? is it really Wal-Mart's right task for their money back?

Pushing the envelope

I have been slacking on this and not posting like I should. For the whole 3 of you that read this I am sorry for leaving you hanging like this I'll repent and mend my ways.

Todays blog is about media. The Media today is very different than it was 10 years ago. What is
"The Media?" It seems to be this strange entity that is all around us. Or better yet what is "Hollywood?" It seems to be this strange collaboration of minds that shape what reality should be, or at least what they think it should be.

As time moves on it seems more and more things that were once taboo are now becoming ok and acceptable to have in the open. Things that were once only found in a pg-13 movie are now right in front of you on normal cable television and there is nothing wrong with this. At least society would have you think that there is nothing wrong with this. That there is nothing wrong with desensitization, and that we should all be "more open" to the things of the world.

There are movies now that get a pg-13 rating that 10 years ago would have been R without question. Why has this changed? Why have we allowed this to happen, and better yet how did this happen? There are words on TV that would never have been allowed to be said 10 years ago. Same thing, how did we allow this to happen? How did we allow people to push the envelope to the point where we are today.

There are images of a sexual nature that are in commercials, and normal sitcoms that would NEVER have been allowed to be placed in front of kids and yet prime time television which was once the family time to watch TV is full of sexual images, and story lines. Sex sells and people that produce TV shows know this and use it to the maximum. Does that make it ok? Does that make it ok for us to watch these things? There are people that would say that it is ok. That it does not effect me at all and that I can take this and I can watch this without issue.

There are many problems with that mentality. One is that our line on what is not ok to watch slowly moves over time. What we would once not watch we will now watch. The gray area will constantly move to allow more if we have this mentality of I can handle it. Before we know it we are "ok" with things that in reality are much closer to things that we are not ok with. If one is not careful we will be carefully cheated in to believing that they can watch things that they do not want to. The Devil carefully will cheat you to hell. He is very good with what he does, and there is a reason that the word "cheat" is used in that phrase. That is exactly what he is doing, cheating you out of things that you want. Cheating you out of your morals, and standards. He wants this, and he really wants to do this without you knowing. Many many small threads will one day become powerful cords that will control you.

I know that this is a topic that can get people going, and that some people are going to think that I am ridiculous, but I hope that what I am really trying to say will come across with this blog.

Is it really that big a deal concerning what we watch? It is really being done intentionally by people in the media? Is it really that important?

What Can We Do?

There are approximately 45 Million uninsured people in the US today. There are about 300 + Million people in the US. So that 45 Million seems like a small percentage of the population, and in reality it is a small one, but it is not a small number. That is a lot of people that need health coverage. Also there are many people that fall into the 300+ million crew that have insurance but pay out the wazoo for it. (yes Wazoo is a word) There are also many people that are in that 300+ that get denied for services that they need.

Now before I move on, I don't want this to seem like I am a hate monger who does not want to help people, or that I think our current set-up is ok. I do not think that we are doing a good job here in the US with health insurance, and I do think that we need to help the 45 Million that are in need. (also quick side note that number is expected to climb to about 57 Million in the next decade) So with that said let me move onto why I don't like socialized medicine.

The reasons I dislike it is cause I firmly believe that it is not in line with the founding fathers plan for our country's govt, and its involvement with people. Also the other problem I have is in the name. "socialized" I am NOT A SOCIALIST nor do I think that there are any good things that can come from such type policies.

The National govt was never intended to manage our live to the degree that many progressives would like to. It was never intended to take away my right to be successful, or a failure. Yes being a failure is a right as crazy as that sounds. By having a socialized health care, or a Universal health care plan which is the same thing just a different name, we are giving away freedoms that are ours to have. I also do not want to fund it with my hard earned money that progressives seem to just want to take away from me.

If you make everyone have it or at least make everyone pay for it, then I am losing freedoms. Hillary's health care program "the American Health Choices" plan is almost devoid of all choices. You must have it, and also you will pay for it. All 110 billion dollars of it. Here let me write that out with numbers for you. that is $110,000,000,000! You see all those zeros? yea that is the size of four govt agencies.

Where do you think that money is going to come from? We can't pull it from the military or homeland security and other defense type agencies. So guess where it is coming from? That's right, you guessed it. YOU! it is coming from you and from your hard earned paycheck. If you don't know what that will feel like let me paint the picture for you. If you take your 50,000 a year salary that you make while living in the state of Virginia and you are a single person with no Dependants you will pay in the vicinity of about 14,400 dollars in taxes between state and federal. That also does include social security ect. That is a big number. Guess what? if we are going to have our 110,000,000,000 dollar plan that 14,400 will go up. How like 40% in taxes sound to you? Yea it could get there. Hope not, but it could.

So what I am trying to say is that it is expensive, and my faith in the govt ability to handle my money well is . . . .well there is none. Until they have Social Security fixed my faith is gone. So I just don't want to take my hard earned money and give more of it to the Govt than I have to, and I really don't want them to manage it at all.

So what do we do? Well the honest truth is, I don't know. I don't know what to do. There are a lot of people that need insurance, and either can't afford it, or can't get covered sure to health. We need to do something from them. I don't know how we are going to help them, and I recognize that there are people that honestly and truly need help as they just can't do it, and can't make it. I am not saying we turn our backs on them, I am just saying that the Federal Govt should not be the one to do it all, or at least should not be the money handlers.

We have a serious problem that needs to be fixed here, and it stems from all sorts of issues. Lets find a problem, but lets keep it out of the federal govts hands. I am ok with state govt taking care of business like Mitt Romney did in Mass. Also I am ok with private companies stepping up and making it happen.

I am truly sad that there are 47 million people with no insurance, and that there are many others that have it and can't get the care that they need and or can't afford it. I don't know what to do? I just don't think that we should get so caught up in trying to fix every ones problems that we give up our basic beliefs in freedom. We should find a solution where our freedom is maintained.

Is it really able to be fixed? Is it really as bad as it sounds? Is it really something that the Federal Govt should attempt to fix? Is it really giving up freedom for socialized health care? Sadly all of these questions I do not have the answer for, I just hope someone does.

Capital One, We Are Not Friends

The world in which we live in, is full of the buy now pay later mentality, even more so than most people want to believe. There are people who don’t even know that they believe this mentality. There are many companies that want nothing more than to have you believe this and to keep you enslaved to them through debt, because when you are in debt that is exactly what you are, enslaved to it.

There are approximately 641 million credit cards in circulation right now responsible for nearly 1.5 trillion dollars in spending. The scary part about that is there are only 303 million people in the US today. Credit cards are everywhere, and you almost can’t get away from them. All you need is a name to get one and start spending.

“But I pay mine off every month so I don’t ever have to pay the interest.” This may be the case, however you are the minority. In 2004 only 39% of credit card holders paid them off in full every month. Over 50% of Americans hold a balance on their credit card that remains every month. This amount gets interest applied to it, and presto the credit card companies make some good money. Also Cambridge Consumer Credit Index found that 47% of balance holders only make the minimum payment. Minimum payments don’t even touch the principle very much.

“I am using my card to build my credit score” Well that is a kind of catch-22 with that statement. You are implying with that statement that you intend to borrow money in the future. “I need the low interest rates in the future.” That is if you intend to borrow as well. Here is a novel idea for ya. Don’t buy something you don’t have the money for! Having a credit card builds credit true, but it does not build it very well if you just pay it off every month. It is built much faster when you have a balance that remains on it, and you pay at least the minimum on time every month.

“If I don’t build my credit score I will not be able to get a house.” To answer this one I am going to quote Dave Ramsey on this one.

“Since you aren’t “building your credit” you will need to find a mortgage company that does actual underwriting. That means they are professional enough to process the details of your life instead of using only a Beacon score (lending for dummies). You can qualify for a conventional 15-year fixed-rate loan if:
• You have paid your landlord early or on time for two years.
• You have been in the same career field for two years.
• You have a good down payment.
• You have no other credit.
• You are not trying to get too big a loan.”

So if you act your wage, and get a house that is within your means you will be able to get a house. Oh and just in case you are not sure if there are companies that will do this here is a good one that will. http://www.churchillmortgage.com/

I am not saying that credit does not matter or that good credit does not help. That is far from true as it does help and negative credit like unpaid debts and bankruptcy does hurt you, and makes life at times very hard to build. However, if you manage your finances well, and have no debt you will have money to buy things, and build wealth. Debt does not build wealth. A credit card will not make you rich. Having money and investing will make you rich. That is a whole other thing however. There is a whole other way of doing things other than using credit cards and getting loans for things. Budgeting correctly, saving correctly, acting your wage are other parts of the story that one must learn about.

I know I do not exude what I am preaching, and I am working on getting my life in order with this. I have only recently changed my views and ideals on debt and the way I spend money. I am actively working on safely eliminating all of my debt and building the correct savings for a down payment on my house. I do not want to live with debt for the rest of my life, but I want to build wealth and change my family tree.

Ok I know, I know I have been doing a lot of political blogging the last little bit, but right now that is what I need to blog about.

Right now it is super Tuesday. Glenn Beck is on CNN, and that is how I am staying up to date on who is ahead and who is behind. Well Glenn just now started eating a chocolate cake on air as a result of what is going down in the elections. I am thinking about joining him.

I have made my choice that I support Mitt Romney. He is my guy, and at this point I am not going to get into why he is my guy, but he just it. I am considering running too the store to get myself a cake to Binge on as well though. Democratic side it is still close with Hillary and Obama. Not the surprised there, but the Republican side is really getting me worked up. McCain is winning, and Romney is making a poor showing so far. It looks like it is going to be a McCain, Clinton, Obama race. hmmmm where does the conservative vote?

McCain is way too liberal for me to vote for him, but I would never ever vote for Obama or Clinton. What will I do if this happens? McCain is a liberal in the Republican party, he engages in Dirty Politics, and is more of the same thing in Washington. I don't want another Clinton in Office, and Obama just plain scares me. What am I supposed to do?!?!

GAAAAA!!!!!!! I know this is more of a vent than anything, but really if what I fear happens, and I think that it might, then I am not sure if I will even vote. We will need some help in the World if any of those three get into office. Oh but don't worry if Clinton makes it at least we can begin to make our move towards socialism, with good Ol'e Hillarycare which we must enroll in, but your not going to be forced to, you just have to do it. (yea I know, but I had just had to take a poke at her stupid health care plan.)

Ok I am done venting now, I'll just begin to enjoy keeping my hard earned money this year while I still can, oh also our sovereignty, national security, tax cuts, good economy, pro life, knowing that marriage will be defended, people still needing to work to get something(that one is loose already), a capitalist society as opposed to a socialist one, the freedom to leave a light on in my house, the government not controlling what I am going to do, and can do, tax cuts, National Security, oops already said those, the freedom to choose my own health care, the freedom to run my business the way that I want to, and . . ok I am going to stop now.

In Tribute of a Great Man

This Sunday one of the best people passed away, Gordon B. Hinckley, the President of the LDS Church. When I found out the news of his passing I felt two very distinct impressions. First one of sadness that he is gone, and that I will miss hearing him speak, and being able to watch his example of how to be a better person. I also felt the emotion of happiness as I thought about him getting to see his sweet wife who passed away a few years ago. His wife, whom I know he missed greatly, is I am sure very happy to once again be united with him once more.

He showed us how to be a little kinder, how to be a little better. He gave the world so many wonderful things, and has left an impression on all that had the opportunity to meet him. He will be missed.

President, Change and Faith

Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change it is all I seem to hear from everyone. I think that I am about all changed out. Thank you Barrack for bringing this word to all of us.

The word change is becoming more and more of a buzz word each and every single day that the political race goes on. The last debate that I put myself through all I heard was the word change. Well let me tell you that my faith in politicians tends to go down with all of this talk. Talk is cheap, and a lot of the people in the political world seem to be full of this talking business. People forget that our govt is set up in such a way to prevent one person from doing HUGE changes. It takes many people to get something done. People can get in the way of it, and people can help it. Sure the president has some more power to do things on his or her own, but in reality to enact a lot of the changes that they are talking about they are not really going to be able to do it on their own. I am ok with this and I understand this, however, many people refuse to look at this little detail.

I want to hear about their ability to be able to motivate people to want to change. Just saying “I am going to bring change” does not cut it for me. I want a candidate that has gotten stuff done and not on their own, but through the use of the people around them. The President is going to need to be able to do this, and do it well to be able to get the really important things accomplished in 4 years.

I really don’t want to bash or buildup a particular candidate this entry, but merely state what I think in regards to something that I feel a candidate should do. There is one more things that I have touched on before that it very important to me in the next president. I want a president that gets down on their knees. I want a President that recognizes there is a higher power out there, and that he or she does not have all of the answers to everything. I don’t care what the religion is, but I want one that believes in God. Whether it is Christian or Jew or any other religion that recognizes the need for divine help on certain issues it is good with me.

The President is going to make some very important choices, and some of them will cost people’s lives. At some point the president is going to have to pick from really crappy choices. They are going to have to do the right thing, and at times that is not the popular choice. I want a person that I know has thought about everything, and that knows that there is someone out there that has all the answers and that is there to help out with tough choices, and asks for this help

This is not a role that a faithless person should have.

Is it really a job that a person can do alone? Is it really possible for one person to enact big change? These are just a couple questions that I like to think about from time to time.

My ambien

I take ambien from time to time to help me get to sleep. Well I am going to write this blog while I am on said drug. I have takin it ooooooo lets say 20 min ago, and this stuff works fast, so I am really starting to feel it that is for sure.

I am sorry for anything that I may say, and I also perhaps could become quite incapable of producing coherent sentences. and for exampele it jsut took me 9 thats right 9 tries to get "sentences" spelled right lol. whoa boy this could get fun.

So When I take this little blue wonder pill. No not that blue wonder pill, this one does the other effect. ok so I may have just made a comparison that I would rather have not made, but I have not done it and I am not chageing it. so moving right a long now.

When you take this pill it makes you sleepy, and fast. I'm talkting running around screaming hyper as can be, adn 20 min later ZZZZzzZZzzzZzZzz like a rock.

One of the fun things about this pill is when I take it and I try tot stay awake. (like I am doin now) you get more and more strange by the min. first the vision gets a little blurry, and then your motor skills are leaving. So far you are so good, but then your mind starts to slow down from the normal pace that was already. For people like me that is all good, but I know some people I am not sure we would want to slow them down anymore, I think that is called death. then the fun part, depth perception leaves you. A once smooth wall is not a mountain range, and a flat keyboard is now shaped like a bowl! eheheheh this is fun.

So after all of the then the two best parts of this all. Your memory decides that it is no longer int he mood for storing memory. So you forget a lot about what happens to you. I may not even remember this blog is up where I wake up. would that be cool or what? anway, the ultimate best part about all of this is sleep walking. you transisiton from awake sorta to sleepwalking. it is so much fen let me tell you. honesty, and tact are now not even suggestions. they jsut don't excist.

as a result of a many many different situations, and some are far worse then other, I have really dug my self in a hole with people cause I think that I am ok to talk to them on the phone or chat online. Sure I can do so, for about 20 min then nope it is a VERY BAD idea to talk to people. I am justifying a blog at least cause it really contains nothing in it. I think you may even be less intelligent just from reading this. (FYI my monitor is now looking like it is waving like a flag. kinda confused about that) But getting back to the point I have a pact with myself and God that when I take this pill, unless the person sleeps in my house, I will not talk to anyone about anything after the first 15 min of ambien, and after that I must get off. So I will not talk to people cause basically, I make a total @$% (edited due to me reading this the morning after, and realizing that I had used a word that I do not want to use) of myself when I do. There are however a group of people whom will remain unnamed, but viddy thinks that it is funny to throw coasters at me when I am ambien high. He also like to do it when I am after the point of when the little memory man that lives in my head takes a nap. so I don't remember it at all. Haa Haa very funny viddy. crap I wasn't going to use anyones name.. . . . . . eh oh well, I'll figure it out how to fix that later.

Absolutly the Exception

All around us in life there are rules, laws, ideas, theories and many many other things like these. We are surrounded by them everyday and in everything that we do. In church, work, school, & families we will find these things. There are so many rules, and regulations in everything that at times it is hard to know what is right, what is wrong. What is absolute, and what is just a strong guideline?

Before I move forward anymore I would like to clarify what I mean by "absolute." Absolute is something that has no exceptions and there is so way other than the one set forth. For example gravity is an absolute. It always works, and does not change. You could call it a law, but that word does not always work cause I am referring to everything.

It seems to me that some people think in absolutes. That what they know is the way it is period. If it is right to them, then it is right and that is all that there is too it. There are other people that do not think this way. They think in guidelines and have a more open mind for lack of a better phrase.

I feel that I fit the second description better than the first. I know that in some things there are absolutes, but for me to think this way about something it needs to be proven to me. I will believe something but I may not believe that it is absolutely correct.

I was going to list some specific examples of things that I believe to be absolute. However, I am planning on doing another opinions blog, and I think that I would rather put it in there. But I think that if you look at how you think you may see that you think in absolutes or not.

Is there anything that is an absolute? If so what are they? I leave that question for you.

Just Answer the Question!! - Part 2

I thought for sure that I would not have more to write about in the last 10 min of the debate. I was wrong.

The last question that was asked was, out of all your past debates what is one thing that you would like to take back? Well Thank you Hillary and Obama for not answering the question. They decided that they did not want to answer the question. They decided that they would rather talk about how much better they are than the Republicans.

Thank you for yet again proving my point. Politicians suck and answering questions.

Just Answer the Question!!

I sit here in my Hotel room in NJ watching the New Hampshire debates, and I am overwhelmed by something. Many of these people look like idiots, and will not directly answer questions. I am watching the democrats right now, and I sadly missed the Republicans so I can not speak for them, but I am willing to bet that it is a lot of the same. I am sick and tired of these people just saying what they want to say, and being asked a question and then answering a totally different question than the one asked.

Senator Clinton was directly asked a question about whether or not she thinks that the other candidates can do the job of taking on opposition of if she is just saying that she can do it. This is a either or questions, and she proudly responded with "absolutely" . . . . . . uh ok that is not how you answer the questions. That was like being asked if your name is Bob, and you respond with, "yes I have a name!"

I would like to see a candidate that will answer a question, and also one the will admit when he/she is wrong. I am sick of seeing these people not admitting that they are wrong when they are called out on something.

Well that is all, I am going to go back to watching the debate. Maybe I will have more to post afterwards.

My New Years Resolution

In the years past I have been the one that would listen to everyones new years resolutions and would quietly laugh to myself as I hear the others. I have thought to myself, "thats stupid, why have one?" I just have never saw the need to set one. This year I have realized that I was wrong all those years when I was laughing at some of them (I mean come on, some peoples resolutions are just odd, and funny)

My new years resolution is to work on not gossiping about anyone.

I had a companion on my mission whos name was Elder Laufatu. He was Samoan straight from the island. Nice guy, but we did not always see eye to eye one everything. I learned a lot from this man though. He had a quality that to this day I can't seem to get out of my head. he never gossiped. EVER! I never once heard him say something about someone else. I would be saying something about someone else, and I would not think it was gossip at all, and he would just ignore it, and or say something good about the person. At first I did not notice, then it would bug me. I one day realized why it bugged me. He could not gossip and I couldn't stop gossiping.

I was not that person that you were scared to say something to by any means. I try to be pretty honest, but if I saw something I might talk about it, even when it was not based in fact. Elder Laufatu however, he would nto engage in conversation about someone else even when it was based in fact. He just did not talk about other people.

When I realized that I was becoming a gossiper I wanted to stop. I did not like that I was doing it. So I tried to quit. I tried my best to not talk bad about people. Well that was a few years ago, and I have not gotten it under control. So this year is the year to kick that habit. I am no longer going to talk about other peoples relationships, hardships, problems, shortcomings, slip-ups or anything like that. I may discuss things about another if I am trying to build them up. I will only engage in positive conversation about others, and only if i am based on fact. I will always give the person the benefit of the doubt that they are a good person.

I know that I will fall short this year, and at time I may engage in gossiping. However, when I catch it this time I will not continue it. I will stop doing it. I may have to institute the push-up program to help rid myself of this. We shall see as the year progresses.

Part of the reasoning for taking this one on is I remember how I felt about Elder Laufatu. I never worried that he was going to talk about me when I was not around. I knew that he would not talk bad about me. It was a good thing. It makes you respect one, and their friendship more. There are things in life that are no ones business, but the people involved. There are things in life that are not for everyone to hear. So I am going to stay away from people and their lives. I am not going to help spread the gossip about others. I am not going to dig into other peoples personal lives. will I be tempted to? Sure, I don't see why I would not, but now I am going to condition myself to walk away from it, and not help it.

So why am I telling you all this? I don't know. Perhaps if you have not made a new years resolution then you could take this one up. I think that the world would be a lot better with out the gossiping that is in it. I think that we all would rest easier knowing that people are not not going to talk about us behind out backs.

Is it really going to be easy to do? Is it really going to make a difference? I would like to think so.

I hate stupid people. I feel the the great bill Engvall got it right on how we should fix the problem. Give them all a sign that says "i'm stupid" and we don't ever have to wonder. They would always have to wear it no matter what they were doing or where they were. They should also have a special sticker that they stick on the back of their cars.

Recently I have learned that I feel very strongly that stupid people should not be allowed to drive when other non-stupid people are on the road. They make driving a living hell here in dc. Do you realize that one stupid person can add 2 hours to a 30 min trip! that is just too much. People should now have to take an iq test, and logic and reasoning skill test before they can operate any vehicle on the motor-ways. Cause well if you are not smart and can not think then I don't want you driving the big SUV next to me.

But stupid people are everywhere, and they are not always a bad thing. As long as you are not in a hurry they can provide wonderful entertainment. Let me tell you a story that happened to me the night I bough my Xbox 360 game Halo3.

I was waiting in the checkout line and realized that I did not have my check card with me, or enough cash to pay for my new very desired video game. However I did have a check, and although I feel that they are growing out of style Best Buy does still in fact take checks as a proper form of money exchange.

So about 20 min later I get up to the check out counter, and I find a kid there about 17 or 18. He looks to me to be American, and after he talked I could say for sure that he grew up here. So moving on now, he takes my game and scans it, and then tells me the price. I then proceed to write my check out for the correct amount. Once this is done I take the check and hand it too him a long with my divers license as I knew he would need it.

My DL is out of state, and for some reason people here in DC and VA seem to find it very confusing, and people always seem to be having a hard time interpreting the meaning of everything on it. I find this amusing as it is from AR, and come on, it is from AR how confusing can it be. So he looks at it then at me, then at the DL again. He hands both check and DL back and asks me to write the DL number on the check. I slightly chuckled to myself as I was realizing that he is having trouble, and perhaps some more will come.

Once this was done I handed it back, and he starts to set up the register to take my check, and he types some things into the computer, which I can see the screen of. I see him get to the "enter DL: state" field on the computer, and he typed in the letters "DL". I found this odd as I could think of no state that had the letters DL as there abbreviation, but that perhaps it was a code that you enter when you have an out of state drivers license.

After hitting the enter key the computer screen read that it had a problem, to which the person asked me if I had any other method that I could pay to which I responded no I do not. he called over his supervisor and updated him on the problem. After a few minuets of deliberation between the two, they tried to enter it in again, and this time the supervisor said that DL was the wrong thing to type, and that my drivers license is from Arkansas. The look of "oh ok" on the checkers face was great, but to make for an even better story, it was followed by a look of confusion.

He then asked me what the abbreviation for Arkansas is. I cooly said "AR" and then had to turn away due to my starting to laugh at realizing what had just happened. You see the Arkansas driver license and the state issued id are the same except on the small picture of the state it says either DL or ID one for drivers license, and the other for identification. This person ignored the big letters on my Id that read "ARKANSAS" and looked only at the DL letter, and then when he realized his mistake, he had to ask the abbreviation.

Now ok this is not that bad, but let me tell you how he pronounced my state. "Are-Kansas" not "are-can-saw" . How does someone who grows up here not know how to say that state. Clinton is from there even. You see if he had his 'i'm stupid" sign I could have helped him through this process of my drivers license a lot better, but he must have left it at home or in the break room.

So anyway I am going to stop now as I am hungry and would like to eat right now.

One Nation Under God

There are so many things that I want to write about about but there always seems to be something better that comes up.

Today Mitt Romney gave a speech that was to say the least, amazing. He has done something that was is so risky, and yet if you stop and think about it for a moment, and forget all the other political crap you will know that he was right. That he did the right thing, and that his points are correct.

He talked about points that are near and dear to my heart, and also things that i am sure are to many of you as well. He talked about what "middle America" believes, he talked about what the hard working majority of this great country think and know is true.

I am not saying that you should vote for Mitt or not, he is still my choice, but it could change for sure. There are other people that I like a lot that could take my vote. I am saying however that you should think about what he said, and how he said it. You should think about who you want to choose for president.

Anyone who votes for Mitt cause he is a Mormon is a pinhead, and anyone who will not vote for him cause he is a Mormon is a pinhead as well. You should or should not vote for him because of his policies, and because of the nature of his carachter, and today shows a kind of character that I like a lot. He showed that he is not going to run away, and he is going to do what is right, and have faith in the American People.

We are a Nation under God, and we are founded by divine inspiration through the efforts of the founding forefathers. God Bless America, and may God forever have a place in this country, and in the hearts of those that live here whatever religion that they may be.

"Thank you, Mr. President, for your kind introduction.

"It is an honor to be here today. This is an inspiring place because of you and the First Lady and because of the film exhibited across the way in the Presidential library. For those who have not seen it, it shows the President as a young pilot, shot down during the Second World War, being rescued from his life-raft by the crew of an American submarine. It is a moving reminder that when America has faced challenge and peril, Americans rise to the occasion, willing to risk their very lives to defend freedom and preserve our nation. We are in your debt. Thank you, Mr. President.

"Mr. President, your generation rose to the occasion, first to defeat Fascism and then to vanquish the Soviet Union. You left us, your children, a free and strong America. I did not confuse the particular teachings of my church with the obligations of the office and of the Constitution – and of course, I would not do so as President. "As a young man, Lincoln described what he called America's 'political religion' – the commitment to defend the rule of law and the Constitution. When I place my hand on the Bible and take the oath of office, that oath becomes my highest promise to God. If I am fortunate to become your President, I will serve no one religion, no one group, no one cause, and no one interest. A President must serve only the common cause of the people of the United States.

"There are some for whom these commitments are not enough. They would prefer it if I would simply distance myself from my religion, say that it is more a tradition than my personal conviction, or disavow one or another of its precepts. That I will not do. I believe in my Mormon faith and I endeavor to live by it. My faith is the faith of my fathers – I will be true to them and to my beliefs.

"Some believe that such a confession of my faith will sink my candidacy. If they are right, so be it. But I think they underestimate the American people. Americans do not respect believers of convenience.
Americans tire of those who would jettison their beliefs, even to gain the world.

"There is one fundamental question about which I often am asked. What do I believe about Jesus Christ? I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind. My church's beliefs about Christ may not all be the same as those of other faiths. Each religion has its own unique doctrines and history. These are not bases for criticism but rather a test of our tolerance. Religious tolerance would be a shallow principle indeed if it were reserved only for faiths with which we agree.

"There are some who would have a presidential candidate describe and explain his church's distinctive doctrines. To do so would enable the very religious test the founders prohibited in the Constitution. No candidate should become the spokesman for his faith. For if he becomes President he will need the prayers of the people of all faiths.

"I believe that every faith I have encountered draws its adherents closer to God. And in every faith I have come to know, there are features I wish were in my own: I love the profound ceremony of the Catholic Mass, the approachability of God in the prayers of the Evangelicals, the tenderness of spirit among the Pentecostals, the confident independence of the Lutherans, the ancient traditions of the Jews, unchanged through the ages, and the commitment to frequent prayer of the Muslims. As I travel across the country and see our towns and cities, I am always moved by the many houses of worship with their steeples, all pointing to heaven, reminding us of the source of life's blessings.

Our greatness would not long endure without judges who respect the foundation of faith upon which our Constitution rests. I will take care to separate the affairs of government from any religion, but I will not separate us from 'the God who gave us liberty.'

"Nor would I separate us from our religious heritage. Perhaps the most important question to ask a person of faith who seeks a political office, is this: does he share these American values: the equality of human kind, the obligation to serve one another, and a steadfast commitment to liberty?

"They are not unique to any one denomination. They belong to the great moral inheritance we hold in common. They are the firm ground on which Americans of different faiths meet and stand as a nation, united.

"We believe that every single human being is a child of God – we are all part of the human family. "I'm not sure that we fully appreciate the profound implications of our tradition of religious liberty. I have visited many of the magnificent cathedrals in Europe. They are so inspired … so grand … so empty. Raised up over generations, long ago, so many of the cathedrals now stand as the postcard backdrop to societies just too busy or too 'enlightened' to venture inside and kneel in prayer. "Infinitely worse is the other extreme, the creed of conversion by conquest: violent Jihad, murder as martyrdom... killing Christians, Jews, and Muslims with equal indifference. These radical Islamists do their preaching not by reason or example, but in the coercion of minds and the shedding of blood. We face no greater danger today than theocratic tyranny, and the boundless suffering these states and groups could inflict if given the chance.

"The diversity of our cultural expression, and the vibrancy of our religious dialogue, has kept America in the forefront of civilized nations even as others regard religious freedom as something to be destroyed.

"In such a world, we can be deeply thankful that we live in a land where reason and religion are friends and allies in the cause of liberty, joined against the evils and dangers of the day. And you can be certain of this: Any believer in religious freedom, any person who has knelt in prayer to the Almighty, has a friend and ally in me. And so it is for hundreds of millions of our countrymen: we do not insist on a single strain of religion – rather, we welcome our nation's symphony of faith.

"Recall the early days of the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia, during the fall of 1774. This makes me upset!!

Ok I know that there are a lot of people in the world that believe different things about this that and the other. We all come from different backgrounds and locations. We are all taught differently and have different experiences in life that will alter the way that we think about issues and problems. Is there anything wrong with this? Of course not! You are allowed to think what you want about anything. In this country it is your right to do so.

We are all given the right to free speech in the US. It is a great thing, if we have a problem then we can state our opinion about something. There are some lines that should not be crossed, but in generally we should be allowed to say something and not be punished for it.(generally speaking)

this however is NOT the case in the US today. Some parties are allowed to do and say as they please, and others have to just shut their mouth cause you might offend someone. Is this fair? No it is not, and it is not right at all.

People are so worried about offending people that they will not say what they feel. the term "politically correct" is one of the few things that gets me angry just hearing about it. We the majority of people must shut our mouth cause you the minority might get your feelings hurt. That is what it is like to me when people try to be PC.

Well it is taking every ounce of will power i have to not type every politically INcorrect thing that I can think of. That is not what this is about. (but I may do another blog later with that one.) Instead I want to copy a link.

"Radical Islam Wants You DEAD!"

you may not agree with me, and you know what? I leave the same challenge that the person in the story did. find me one that wants you alive. I submit that you can not find me one.

I feel that Islam is getting an unbalanced treatment. Or more rather that Christianity is getting the brunt of it. We can learn about the Koran in schools and jewish beliefs among others, but I can not talk about Jesus in school. Last I checked Christianity still wins in the US. i could be wrong on that one, but I don't think that I am.

I want to see people speak out about the war in Iraq, I want to see people say they hate Bush, and I want to see people say abortion is wrong. It is the right to say things that makes this a great place to be. If I want to say that I don't like something, or some organization I should be allowed to do so. I should not be allowed to threaten someone, or some organization as that is one of those lines I talked about before.

An Inconvenient Review

I just picked up a copy of "An Inconvenient Book" by Glenn Beck.

Now let me tell ya this is one of the most interesting, politicly INcorrect things I have seen in a while. the person who wrote this must be nuts. There are things in here that insult my intelligence on many different levels, but let me tell you what. I love every stinkin word of it.

I am in the 3rd chapter already, and I expect to finish it before monday. When that happen I will give you my complete inconvenient review of the book. However don't wait for me to write my review before you get the book. Go to Barns and Noble or Books-A-Million or something and pick it up.

Now I must warn you, if you play to the mainstream media Gods, and believe everything that you hear on TV, and you are genuinely interested in what is going on with that Brittany spears woman, well this book may hurt you to read. I think that he calls people like you stupid, or something like that. Oh also if you're a HUGE fan of Al Gore, you should read this book for sure. this will enhance your views on Global warming in the first chapter making you more knowledgeable then before for when you talk to your friends about how we are killing the planet. (what I am saying is this will help you look smart, and not like a moron.)

6 things you don't know about me

A friend of mine did this and I thought that it was a good idea. So I will now present you with,

6 things you don't know about me

1. I have lived in 13 different houses, and 7 different states. They are Colorado, Texas, Penn., New York, Arkansas, Illinios, and Virginia. No it is not cause my Parents were in the military, just life saw fit to cause us to move a lot. I have never been in one place for longer than 4 1/2 years. People ask me if I liked it, well I don't know any differnt so I can not really compair it.

2. I have restless leg syndrome. That is exactly what it sounds like. When I sit still I move my feet or legs. It is kinda annoying from time to time, but I really don't even notice it most of them time. So watch me when I am sitting in a reclined position, I will be moving my feet at least.

3. I can feel very well. I have never really been able to explain this well, but I will give it a try. I feel everything. Any and all conact with my skin no matter how small, I can feel, and feel very well. (yes that is why it makes me itch when you do that) When I was younger my mother had to put a blanket between me and her cause i did not like to have things touch me other than cloth. I know it is pretty odd but it is true. so yea little things crawling on me? yea not a fan so much.

4. I never sang a solo till I was 19 then not again till I was 20. For those of you that know me and how much I enjoy singing this may or may nor shock you. (I know this makes me look slightly proud of myself but this is a blog about me) I never liked to do that kind of thing in public. Not even in front of my family. Only in the last couple of years have I gotten over my fear of being in front of people. I used to get panic attacks really bad before I would go on stage. It is not like that now, I still get VERY nervous, but it is now much more managable.

5. My great great grandfather on both sides were full blooded native american. Choctaw and Cherokee (yes like the Tim McGraw song) So I am 1/16 Native american. This may not seem that interesting but it is to me, that is all that matters :P

6. I have never left the US (Canada does not count in my eyes). I have been all over the US but I have never left the US at all. Never even had the chance. I meet people all the time that are like, "yea I have been here" or "I have been there", but not me I have just stayed here my whole life. will I every leave the US? I would like to think so, but I just don't know where I would want to go. hmmmm choices choices.

My Music CD

I would not normaly advertise about somthing like this, but as some of you have asked about it I will be posting updates here.

I do infact have some recordings of me singing. I am in the process of redoing a couple of them. When I get it done I will let everyone know so that those of you that want one, will be able to get one.

I will be recording the song that I sang on church "Oh My Soul Hungered" and one more that I am not sure about yet.

I am also in the process of recording a CD for Christmas.

A Time to Ponder

The following is a partial entry. if it gets some comments I will finish it. It is a little old, like 2 months, but I wanted to get something up.

I have gotten a little behind on this yet again. There has been a lot things going on with me, and I am sure that all of you are just itchin for me to enlighten you. Well sorry but I am not going to do that here at this time.

The question for today is.. . . .

Is it really the things that we know that make us smart? or not smart?

We all think very differently. Some people have earned the title of "smart" and others have earned the title of "not as smart" (word that how you will). Why is this? why do some of us get these different titles? I know people that have different titles, both of which are on opposite sides of the spectrum.

Am I smart? I often wonder if I would be called that, or if I would be just called dumb. I don't think about it too often, and I know that there are things that I am very smart about, and other things that I am not. But in the eyes of those around me I wonder what they think about me from time to time. If I am the kind of person that they would come to for advice.

Does it really matter what others think about us? I guess in the great scheme of things it does not really matter what others think. We seem to all know this, and yet we all seem to forget this as life goes on. The ones that truely ignore what others think about us seem to be happier. What is so special about them? I don't know, perhaps it is the ability to sustain their own lives with out the need of other people attention.

I often try to separate myself from the need of other peoples attention to be succsesfull, or to find pride in my work. I have found however that it is harder than it seems to do that. lets give an example of what I am talking about:

I used to work for a cleaning company, and at that time I was a supervisor at a building over the night shift. I was wanted to do something to spice up the look of the building with some detail cleaning. So I elected to clean the push plates on all of the doors. So I got the tools required to polish them and then begain to polish. Well when I was done, I realozed that they were all clean evenly. That in reality most people are not going to notice cuase they are not going to have anything to compair it to. so to let people know about all of the work that I do, I left half of some of the push plates unpolished.

The next day I got a call from the facility manger and he told me that he liked the work that I had done and asked when I would finish the rest of them. I told him the I was going to do so that night, and of course I did.

Now would this guy have noticed the job that I had done if i had not left half of it incompleted? I don;t know nor will I ever I guess, but the point is I was looking for the approval of this person to alllow me to think that I did a good job. Is it not good enough that I could have.

Life is like unto a game of golf

It is early Saturday morning. As you inhale slowly taking in the cool morning air, you can smell the faint smell of the moist grass, and the wonderful smells of early morning. It is just starting to get light, and you can feel the cool breeze. You’re still a little cold, but you know that soon you will be warm, with sunglasses on enjoying the sunshine. It is the perfect time of day. Peace, quite, still, relaxing, these are just some of the words that one can use to describe the feeling felt at the tee box of the first hole.

You reach down to place your ball on the tee. Trying to get it to the perfect height to perch your golf ball on. Once set you place your ball on top making sure to line up the line you drew on your ball with the distant flag. You back up and stand behind your work, and stare down the fairway at the large patch of green off in the distance. You stand and ponder your plan off attack. Do you go for the green or do you just lay it up in the fairway leaving yourself a good safe second shot? Just a couple of the many questions you ask yourself before you take your first shot of the day.

After a few moments of contemplation you’re ready for your shot. You take your place next to the ball with your club in your gloved hand. You line up for the shot and in the very brief moment before you begin to swing the club back you take into account the slight change in wind and recheck your grip. Once this is done it is time, you begin to swing back and you feel your left shoulder slightly push against your chin letting you know you have gone back far enough, a momentary pause and then you release. Feeling calm and loose you swing your club forward, and as you strike the ball with a very satisfying metallic sounding pop you continue with your follow-through allowing your right shoulder to push your chin to the left, your body following along to watch the ball almost effortlessly fly towards the green. You stop, you don’t move for some reason, it is almost as if you do you just might alter the path of the ball.

Once the ball has landed you allow yourself to drop your club and relax your stance, squaring yourself with the far off green. Your choice to go for green has paid off. You did not quite make it, but instead your ball in a cool 20 yards to the front left of the pin. An easy chip you think to yourself. Your heart beats slightly faster as you consider the fact that you have the potential to open the day up with a birdie. You whisper to yourself “I love golf” as you slowly walk off the tee box to your bag to replace your driver to it’s proper location. And allow your friend to take their shot.

There are few other games like golf. It is something that once you play you either think to yourself “eh it is ok but not that fun” or you just simply can not stop thinking about it. There are many wonderful things about this great game of golf. Now I am not going to try to convince you that you need to start playing golf, although I would be happy if you did, I am just going to compare some similarities, or parallels between golf and life.

IN life we are all to often presented with choices that we need to make. Some of them are simple and others are not so simple. Some of them we have made before and others we might have to try something a little more risky to make it work. In golf it is fairly similar. We often times hit the ball in a similar place as before, but at other times we may do much better or far worse, landing you in the trees to the right of the green, or even worse right behind a tree. What do you do? Do you go around, what about trying to thread the needle and go between two trees? What about when you hit the ball into the water? It is worth it too you to go in after it? Or do you just let it go and take the 2-stroke penalty? Ahh the joy of making choices.

You may be playing an average game of golf one day. Something that is not very memorable. You will probably forget about it in a month, but then on the 11th hole you strike a ball off of the tee and it lands 5 feet from the hole, or you sink a chip from 30 yards out. All of a sudden all of the tough things that you have gone through don’t seem to matter, because that one shot makes the whole day worth it. In life it is the same, we may go though a lot of crap, but when you get the one great shot it was all worth it to get there.

In reality life just like golf is not that complicated. The method to fixing problems is typically the same; just the terrain has changed from last time. You may change from a 7 iron to a 6 iron, however you still know what to do. When you overcomplicate it you just make it worse, and when you stress about the next shot you make it worse. Just make the shot and you will do fine. So what you land in the sand, life will move on and you will be fine. You may not get the 8 over par day you hoped for, but it is the joy in playing the game that matters, not the score. However it sure is great when you get that score you were hoping for. But you will get it. It may take some time. You may have some bad games, but you must. It is part of the process of getting better and better every day.

Is it really that simple? Is it really that similar? I think so. You may or may not see what I am talking about. I am vague by design, remember do what we all so best. Think.

Where Can I Turn For Peace?

In the world today there is so much that can make life difficult, and oft times difficult to deal with. Life has this way of throwing things at you that test and trys one to the breaking point. And yet through all of this, life always seems to work out. I don't really understand how that works out, however I do know that it does. It always has, and always will.

Recently I found out that a friend is going through some tough times. always hard to hear about friends having difficulties, esspecially cause there is normaly nothing that we can do about it for them, except perhaps just be someone that they can talk to.

But as a result of this I have thought to myself "what do I do to find peace when the winds of change or tribulation are hitting me?" Well I have thought about it and I realize that there are some things that I do over and over again to help. I don't do it consciously but I am just drawn to things to help. So I shall share a few of them with all of you that may be reading this. I am not sure if there is anything that will help you, but who know there just might be something that might help out a bit.

one thing that I alwasy like to do is to play the guitar or sing. I love music, life is so simple when I am playing or making music. There is a song for every phase in life. Music can comfort one and take them somewhere where the troubles and worries are not, even if it is just for a couple of min it is always nice to have. Recently I have taken back to practicing the guitar agian. I primarly play classical music but I like to play other stuff as well. The reason I like the classical is due to the fact that it is hard. When I am playing it er rather trying to learn to there is not much else I can think about other than trying to make good music. I am sure most of you have your own thing with music, but for me it is a great tool to help.

The other thing that I like to do is play golf. I don't do it often, but when I do it really brings great relief to me. The reason why is cause when you are playing there is not any energy left to think about the troubles of the world. When your biggest worry in life is that you just hit a ball into the sand trap or the rough grass it is a good time. Cause you know what? Who cares where that ball lands? the game will go on and that one shot makes a whole day worth it. (hmm I think I know what my next blog is going to be about)

Now for the next couple of things that I like to do I am going to go the the gospel path. For those of you that may not know, but I am sure that most of you do, I am one that goes to church. I at times can be a little churchy, but I try hard to keep it personal, and between me and my closest friends, and family. However with that said one thing that I always do when life is hard, and I don't seem to have anywere else to turn I turn to prayer. I may not always get the answers, but I always get the peace, and I know that someone hears it. There is always an ear that is ready to hear me, even when it seems like there is no one that cares. that very thing has helped my more then anything. I find that when I forget this, and I forget that I need to throw a shout out to the Lord life thorws some serious curves at me, and they often drive me to my knees. These times have made me a better because of it. But anyway I don't want to go to much more into that, but it works, and it helps.

The other thing that I do is I try to help others. I find that when I go and help others that I forget about my own problems, and I get caught up in giving assistance to others, and makeing their life better. I am always glad to do that, and it help me keep perspective in tough times.

The last thing that I like to do is go up to the DC Mormon Temple. It is a great place, and when you are there you just feel a peace that you don't feel many other places. Even on the grounds. I love it there. Many a hard choices came from thinking there.

Well anyway, I hope that this is of some use to someone somewhere. I know that this all sounds simple. I know that when life is beating you down and down that it is hard to get the peace of mind that we all seek. However it is there, and there is some other power somewhere that is looking after us and is trying to help us.

Is it Really. . .something that we can handle? Is it really ever going to be better? Two questions that I know from time to time that I ask myself.

I wish I knew everything. . .

You know I wish that I knew everything. yea no I don't that would kind of suck. There would be great aspects of it for sure, but at the same time it would take the spice of life out.

I am talking mostly about know what will happen after we make choices. What is on the other side of that equals sign. There have been many times in the last while that I have had to make a choice about different things, and at the time I sure would have liked to know what was going to happen as a result of it.

Well life does not allow for that to be the case, we must make choices and learn for ourselves what will happen. Now most of you may think that i am crazy, and wondering why I would not want to know what is going to happen next. There is a reason for this though process. Allow me to elaborate on this.

When I make a choice and it turns out good or bad, it does not really matter which, and it comes time to make that choice again I know what I am going to do, or what I am not going to do. Some times I don't get it the first time or the next 8 times, but sure as rain i'll get it one day. And that is the fun part, when you come to a choice and it is a repeat and you know how to handle it. That knowladge is yours, and you learned it good o'le fashoned way. The school of hard knocks, a place where the teachers are . . . .rough.

Like it also teaches us to takes risks, which can be quite fun and enjoyable, and other times it can be painful, but all in all the journy is allways worth it I guess. I like the learning what choices to make, even though sometimes when I am in the thick of it I lose perspective, as it is so easy to do.

There are no great life changing choices that I am going to have to make here in the next month (at least that I am aware of) nor in the last little bit, otherwise I could give a good example perhaps somthing shall come up and I can give an example of how I don't have a clue what to do.

Is it really better to know what will happen? or Is it really better to learn for yourself? I leave that up to you to decide for yourself.

Life sometimes is really tough to say the least. There are many things that help us get through the tough times. Over the course of the last year I have discovered many different things that help me during the tough times. Over the course of the last year there have been some interesting times in my life and some interesting choices that have been made. Some of the choices are very small, and some of them where quite big, some that the effects of have already come and gone, and others that the effects will ring in my life till I die. But I have learned a lot the last year and now that I am where I am I guess that I would not change any part of it. Even the parts that at the time seemed so hard that I was not sure if I could handle it, or that I would make it through them.

This Blog entry is going to be a bit more personal than normal, and well . . .that’s ok cause this is mine, and I can do that. So I am going to.

Anyway back to my life, there have been some tough times, and there has been so many things that I have learned over the last few years. I guess the good Lord saw it fit to give me lots of learning opportunities in the last year. There has been no shortage of them. He definatly has played a part in my life, and I can see that now, there are times when I was asking over and over for things, and I wanted them so badly, and nothing would happen all to often and then a few day, weeks, and sometimes even months later I would see why it happened the way that it did.

Well this is not about where I am now, but rather some of the things that happened to help make my life a little more manageable during the tough times. As I said the good Lord saw fit to make life challenging but he did not leave me alone that is for sure. There have been many different people, events, ect that have happened to me that I can see that there is a hand in it.

The one thing that has helped me through all of the tough times has been the blessing of some really great friends in my life. Since coming here to good ol’e Washington DC I have made some really great friends. Some of them have played such a huge role I wonder if they will ever fully comprehend how much they have affected my life. I feel sad that I know that I may never be able to repay what some of them have done for me. I try all of the time to do so, but it just never feels like I do enough in return.

Over the last year I have gotten to see who is truly my friends. I had a question posed to me, or actually it was more of a statement that got me thinking. A very close friend of mine said that he/she was driving to the church and an ambulance was driving past with the sirens on in the general direction of the church. And it got this person thinking, if it was going to the church whom would it be for? And if it was someone I knew, what would I do? (And then the big part for me) Who would it need to be for me to want to ride in the Ambulance with them? Well this person said that if it were me that they would make sure that they were in the ambulance with me.

That really got me thinking. If it were this person I would be in the ambulance as well. I would make sure that I was in there. But that made me think about who else would I make sure that I was in there if it happened, and or who would I want in there if it were me that was hurt? I realized that there are a few people that I would want to be there. And that thought led to another, who of those that are my friends, that when things are tough, who do I wants to talk to first? I realized that I do have some people like that.

I do not want to get into naming people; I just hope that I make it known how I feel through my actions towards them. But there are some people here in the DC area that mean the world to me, and that I would do anything for. Some people that have helped me so much that I am honored to call them “my friends”.

We all need to have friends like that; I know that I would not be where I am with out the assistance from great friends. But I also have learned that if you want to have best friends then the most important part is to be that friend. I try hard to be that kind of friend. I know that I fall short and that I do not always meet the need, but I sure do try to, and I guess that counts for something right?

Well I am going to wrap this up now, but I want end this with part of the lyrics to a great song about this

My 60 opinions responses

Well I have gotten some decent responses to the last post that I did. I did not think that I was going to get out another blog before my next podcast, but I guess I am going to now. I want to get this done while it is on my mind or I know that I will forget to do it.

Well I am going to respond to an e-mail response that I got today. (by the way I love to talk about all this stuff so feel free to comment or e-mail me.)

the first one is

opinion: I am for the Iraq war and I think that we should stay there and get the job done.
E-mail: What Constitutes Get it done?

Response: Well that is a LONG conversation in and of itself, and I fully intend to post something in depth about the Iraq war, but it will take some time as there are a lot of things that are happening right now that I want to see what happens first.

But to Clearify that one a bit more. We should help the Iraqi people build up a stabel Democoracy. I know that it will take time but it is War, and things do not and will not always go as we want them to. If we turn and run away and "lose" this war everything that we have fought for and everything that people have died for could be in vain and all for not cause Terror could take over there. Also this would in the future effect us, as it would be on emore place for it to grow. We will be attacked again. I just want to make it be as FAR OUT as possible. so if there is one less place for them to be then well lets make it that way. If not we will be there again but I think that it will be under far different circumstances.

Opinion: I think that The US is losing its drive to get the job done.
E-mail: Why do you think so? Is it something that should include the international community? Do we need to look at the roles that the int. community played in our civil war to see what we can justify thru PR to the citizens of our country?

Response: That one is a tough one to answer also and keep it brief. Lets give it a try.

The Iraq war has and is full of twists turns, and failures. There are also many things that have and are continuing to go well. With out getting into the sticks about this one, all in all the war is "behind schedual" We have not met all of the deadlines that we wanted to meet at the appointed times. Well as a whole it seems that America(at least all the loud ones) are saying that we should leave. Well they are saying this when the going was getting tough and we did not seem to be making any headway. If your boss tells you to do something and have it done by Friday, and you do not do you then not do it? Of course not! you do what you gotta do to get the job done and soon. Well that is what we are doing. We are trying to get the job done, and we ware trying to get it done yesterday. there are setbacks, but jsut because we do not acheive our goals that does not mean that we should quit! We should continue on and make it right.

I feel that I am going to drift off of this one. Let mill over how to word this one better and I will get back to everyone on that one.

Opinion: I think that the General is a great man and that anyone that attacks him personally is a cold gutless individual, and that his honor has no reason to be questioned and that it is a great insult to do so.
E-mail: I see your point, but no one is perfect. I am sure that he has made mistakes, even into policy at large. If you can't take criticism then I don't think you belong in positions of power or in the public eye. That is everyone from the General to the President to Britney Spears.

response: Today the President of the United States said something in his press speech. "It is one thing to attack me." We all know that people of power will be attacked when they say things. My comment was in direct response to the Moveon.org ad that was run. It was as the President said "disgusting". That attack was personal plain and simple. It was an attack on the mans charachter, and also on our Military.

I wish that there were more people that would have said anything about the Ad that was run. However there was not much nor enough said, till today. I feel that our President put it all out there and it was the honest truth. I think that he sees that clearly how it really is. If you all search your heart you will know that what they did was wrong, and should not have been done. There are lines that should not be crossed, and that line was crossed by Moveon.org.

It is ok to not like what someone says? Heck yea it is. I am doing it right now. But if you must disagree do it with class. Not like they did. We are all on the same side here. We are all Americans. That is all I would liek to say about this about the current moment.

I am going to do something that I have needed to do for a while but have not had the stones to do so. Well I am going to do it now. I am going to tell everyone where I stand on different issues.

There will be a couple of things that will not make it up here cause that means that I have a podcast in the plans to cover it.

Well here they are, feel free to comment but I am not looking to have them changed, most of them have plenty of info that is leading me to my opinions but I don't want to put them all here. Some of them will make people think differently about me, and might also cause people to no talk with me about some topics, that is ok with me. So with out further delay here they are.

I am for the Iraq war and I think that we should stay there and get the job done.
I think that The US is losing its drive to get the job done.
I think that the General is a great man and that anyone that attacks him personally is a cold gutless individual, and that his honor has no reason to be questioned and that it is a great insult to do so.
I am a conservative, and not a republican.
I can not stand Party division
I think the presidential elections test the very core of a honorable society.
I am going to Vote for Mitt Romney currently(yes it can change)
I am not doing it because he is Mormon
Yes I am a Mormon
I am doing it because I like his policies and religion has nothing to do with it.
I do think that many (not all) Democrats attack Republican people in a very different way. I think that they are always attacking and republicans generally are defending.(that is not an absolute)
I feel the Mormons receive undue and unjust treatment from society
I feel that what happens in people life is their fault a majority of the time.

Too many people in the US don't know how to keep commitments and you can see this in marriages.
Marriage is the number one cause for divorce. When we say I do we mean that I will try, when we say I will mean I will give it a test shot and if not then I will give it up.

That is not a slap in the face to anyone that has been divorced it is just reality.

Men should open doors for Women.
It is Rude to smoke in public. It was clean air first and non-smokers outnumber smokers so we win.

I mean come on smoking sections are like peeing sections in swimming pools.

I have Many problems as a person, and so do we all. I try to improve myself everyday, and some days I do well and others I do not, but I still can and will try to help others along the way.
I am a hypocrite and so are YOU!
People are naturally good people and want good for others.

Well there are some things that I wanted to take stand on as a person. These are all my opinions, and I have no problems with anyone that has different ones. I wish that we can all get along and I want to be friends with all. I wan to be a kind person, but I have allowed that to allow me to be stepped on too much. So if you think differently about me cause of this list I am sorry and I hope that we can be friends and know that I will try to be yours even if you do not want to be mine.

so ask yourself, do you know where you stand? Are you ok with where you stand? Do you really know what you're talking about? Are you OK with the fact that I and many others are different than you? I am. That is what makes this world a great place.

Live everyday to the max and always remember that it is a great day to be alive. We are all very luck to be alive and I am proud to be an American, and I will stand by America no matter what.

Fly your flag with pride.

I was driving today out to Reston to my favorite establishment. The Buffalo Wing Factory man they got good food, but anyway back to what I was saying. I have XM radio and I was surfing like three different talk show radio channels, and I came across the Factor on Fox News Radio and I heard a news story unlike anything that I have heard on the news. There are people apparently that do not want to fly the American flag. For various reasons, none of which that sound very good, but they do indeed.

So you gotta ask yourself? Do you fly the flag? Do take pride in the flag? People were calling in to voice their opinion on why they don’t fly the flag. One man said that It is just a pointless symbol and it is better to be informed than to fly the flag. Ummmm ok yea that does not make sense to me. I see his logic (if you can call it that) but I don’t agree. The flag is a symbol yes, but it seems that people are forgetting what that means. I will get to that in a sec. first I want to say one more reason why people don’t want to fly the flag with pride.

People say that if they fly the flag or wear a lapel pin or anything like that, that they are agreeing with the current policy, and things that are happening in the country, that they are taking a stand. Well yea you are, a stand FOR AMERICA! You know that great country that we live in that allows us to say what we want. That allows us to have freedoms that many around the world can only dream of. We live in one of the greatest nations in the world. Sure we have things that we can improve on. What country does not? There are times when we don’t agree with what is going on, but the flag is a symbol of our freedoms, and the price that was paid to have all 50 wonderful states. (Even if some of them are kind of flat and dull) and not the current presidents policy on immigration, or foreign policy.

There are other aspects of this, and some of them I really don’t want to get into here. But they varied from Slavery, to the war in Iraq, to taxes. All I gotta say is the flag is a symbol of our great nation. When things are tough we should fly it proudly.

Faith and our goals

Welcome back to the world of is it really? What shall we talk about today? Well you are in luck I already know what I am going to talk about so you will not need to rack your brain to help me on this matter. Now I feel the need to warn any of you that I am going to be talking about religion. So if this is going to bother you then don’t read it. But I think that most of the people that are reading this are going to be just fine with it.

I received an e-mail today that sparked this whole thing. I will copy and paste bits and pieces from it. The following is an exerpt from the e-mail that I shall give some commentary to.

“A few thoughts about faith. To me faith is the principle of all our actions or ininactions that we take day to day. It is when we lose faith that life is such a struggle. Despite what challenges we have before us, if we have faith, we will know that all will be OK, in time.

There is a saying in the scriptures that is something like, faith without works is dead. To me faith without a goal is waste. If we do not have strong goals then we do not to exercise faith and we do not do our part which is to think through and determine what we want and then have faith that we will have our goals manifested in our lives.”

Ok so I find this to be a great two paragraphs about faith and what not. The first one really sums up why we have problems when we try to take care of our future. We lose faith that it will all work out in the end. We forget that there is someone out there looking out for us and has our best interests at heart.

We all have problems and we all have things that get in the way of our goals. No one is immune to this fact. Does this thought make us feel any better when life is . . . well not going how we would like it to? Of course not, but at least for me it is nice to know that others know what I am going through, just the names and faces have changed.

So now on to the second paragraph with really compliments the first one quite nicely. The goal. We often are bummed about how life is going, but we really don’t know where it is we want to go. We know that we want to be happy, but we don’t know where we really want to be. If you have no goal or heading your odds of getting happiness is reduced. Sure people just happen upon something that makes them happy, but that is not the norm. A ship with no heading or destination does nothing but roam the sea.

You gotta of course have a goal. That is that hard part that we all have to deal with. Choosing what it is that we want. Sure it is ok if it changes from time to time. But it helps to have something to work for. But I am not going to talk about that aspect right now.

In this e-mail there is a fantastic quote, and it is as follows “Faith isn’t faith until it’s all you’re holding on to.” The person who said that is unknown. But it is a true concept. That is really when we find out what we are made of. When we have nothing else to hold on to. When you have no one to turn to on this earth that is when you grow the most, and when you grow your relationship with God. It is amazing how people can forget him when things are going good, but when things are going wrong most people are quick to call him again. The entire thing about how there is never an atheist in a foxhole is true. You have no one else to turn to for help when your there. And I am sure that when a lot of us are in our figurative foxholes in life we remember God and how he can help us.

So now that I am off of that soap box I can talk about the last thing in the e-mail. It is about blocking our dreams from us. “You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith." - Mary Manin Morrissey

That is so true. When we allow the task of getting there become to daunting then we will never get it. Don’t let it scare you, go for it, and move forward one day at a time. School for example. It is a really long thing. If you think about that all the time then it is going to be hard to keep the focus. But when you know where you are going to be, and you don’t get caught up in the nitty gritty it helps a lot. Keep the big picture in mind.

So is it really about Faith? Is it really what makes a difference in getting your goal or becoming happy?

The jobs that we do.

There is something things that we all must do. We all must breathe for example. We all must beat our heart. Of course those are very fundamental things that we all must do. However even though we do them, we do them in different ways. Some are more diligent is making it happen or not. I am not going to talk about how we all breathe differently but I was just trying to paint a pic that even with the most basic of things we still perform them differently.

The aspect that I am going to talk about at this time is working. Some of us have a Job. Others perhaps have a Career. Within each of those we all have a different mentality about how we view it. Some of us are just there to make a paycheck, and others are there to get the job done because it is not about the money, and everything in between.

So what are you doing where you work? Are you just there to get your paycheck? Are you just like every other person in your place of work? Or do you come to work and try to learn more, and become the best at what you do?

I have had the wonderful opportunity of being a “boss”. With that came firing and hiring people. I had to choose when to give people a promotion, or when they needed a raise. With doing this I have seen lots and lots of different kinds of people come to work for me. I work in the cleaning industry and the bulk of those people that I had under me were cleaners. At various level of course with in the cleaning field. Some were just hourly cleaners and other were supervisors of an account. There were others that did not clean at all, but performed some other task that I would need done. No matter what the job there was certain qualities that I saw made a great employee.

Some were there and took great pride in what they do. They came to work and worked hard, and got their job done, and went above and beyond the scope of what they had to do. There were others that had a more prestigious job position, and they just “did their job”. Are they a bad person or worker for this? Well no of course not they just have a different mentality about their job than the other person does. So who would get more opportunities to grow and become more successful? Well the first one of course. A person that works like that is going to learn, grow, and become better at what they do no matter what I do. I can give the other person more opportunities to grow that they are still going to do “just a job”.

So what is the point that I am trying to get across to you blog people? Well I don’t know if there is much of one other than what I asked. Do you just do your job, or do you do more? Do you take pride in whatever it is that you may do? It is not the job that you do that matters in the great scheme of things, but rather it is how you do the job that really matters. I guess this could be a pep talk that you might get from an employer that wants to get a little more out of you. Tell them that they can thank me and send me money if they would like. I know that when I work hard, and get better at anything, no matter how unimportant people may think that it is. I feel good about myself. I feel like I got something done.

Is it really how you do the job that matters? It is really that big of a deal if I want to just make a paycheck? I guess in your life you will see and find out for yourself.

Just say it, Don't let your ego get in the way

It is time for a new blog, and one that is not a rant.

This week I am bringing you something that touched on a previous blog. Just saying the words I don't know. People as they get smarter have a hard time saying this. It seems that most people do this. I know there are a few people that don't have this problems but, that number is a very small one.

So Instead of talking more about this I have a video clip that I would like to share with all of you about this.

This clip is from the movie "The Core" and there are three scientists on the craft and you will see one that does not know the answer but just can't say it. He is a very smart man and people think that he is smart. He has allows his ego to prevent him from just being normal and by him not saying I don't know he looks like a moron.

Sports and egos

I just got back from playing one of my favorite sports. Thats right the wonderful hippie sport of Ultimate Frisbee. I really do enjoy it a lot. It is a fun sport and it usually has great sportsmanship with it. Even with playing "for real" as in with a set team that practices together and goes to tornys and what not, the sport is self . . . .regulated? I am not sure the word that I am looking for but I am trying to say that there are no refs.

Well now this is normally a very fun thing, people are honest and get along and what not. All the time?? Not so much. I wish that were the case.

Now I know that you are not really wanting to read a Blog about Ultimate Frisbee, but it was what I was doing when the thoughts came to me so there for it will be the example for tonight. But feel free to use anything else, as this seems to be something that is EVERYWHERE in the casual sports world.

So what was happening is we would have a lot of people some to play every Thurse night. Well here in the DC area we have a large influx of new people that come to play, as there are a lot of interns and people home for the summer from school. So people all have different ways of playing this sport. Now granted just like almost every sport other than Cavlin Ball, there are "set rules" that exist. You can look them up online, shoot there are even books with this info in it. So anyway people generally don't know anything for sure when it comes to rules. (check out the last blog)Of course people are not going to say the words "I don't know" I mean you would look ignorant and no one would care, what you say from then on out and you must not know how to play.

Okay of course that is not how it would be. but people seems to think that is will. So as we are playing there is a slight confusion about the rules. The problem was about standing there and not throwing the disk. Normaly you are supposed to count and if you have not thrown it by that time then you give up the disk. Pretty standard rule right? Well for some reason the person who started it all up here where we play elected to not have that rule (among many others.) Well tonight some one said that I held it too long. Ok fine I will give him that, but there is no rule saying that I need to get rid of it. So I am going to wait till there is a clean throw. Well I responded to the person, start counting then. They said ok I said as long as we all agree then hey we are cool. I did not hear any complaints, and we were not quiet about it either so we moved on.

Well as we started someone just sat there I yelled to my team to start counting which they did. Some one else on the other team wigged out and was like whats that? I asked him if he did not hear that we are going to start counting to 10. he said no, and so I the repeated myself and said that the defender has the option to count if they so choose (as the real rules states(yes I have read them, and even have them memorized)) He seemed to be ok with it and then later could not seem to be ok with it when ever we counted, and yet we held on to the disk and they would not count. They then in turn would get mad at us for just hanging on to the disk.

Wow this sounds like a rant about what happened. Anyway I am getting to to point now. So we have people that all want things done the way that they are used to it being done. When you introduce change to it, it seems that people just generally have a problem assimilating it into there brain. Something as simple as a rule in a sport. So the ego kicks in and people then start to bicker. It was starting to happen there but I left before it did cause I did not want it to get to that point with me there.I

It seems that men are worse than girls. but. .. . .you know what? I just lost interest in this so I am going to stop now. All I gotta say is, "People quit being stupid, just say I don't know figure something out, and stop fighting. You look retarded when you argue about something stupid anyway."

my life is complicated

So anyway onto my life. I look back at my life over the last 6 months and I see a lot of interesting twists and turns. When I was on them it sure did throw me for a loop and I was not too sure what to think. I know that maybe only 2 of you know what I am talking about, and that perhaps maybe there are 2 or 3 that are even interested that don't know. I think that I will just forgo the story. We all have one, I don't claim that mine is better or worse, however you want to look at it than yours. But I too have had many tough times, and there have been days when I just wanted to stay in bed and not do anything. Fortunately I have been learned better than that and I get up and try to live that day like it was my last. Or well at least I try to do that.

So these stories that we all have about our tough times, what do we do with them? I know some people just like to forget they happened and move on with life. Others perhaps like to continue to relive them again and again and again. Neither of those I guess is a healthy or wise choice. I like to find a happy middle place. I try to remember them, but move on from the hard times. Sometimes that is simple, and other times. . . well not so much, but I make do. Think about it for a second, it is not like one has a choice. Life is going to move on even if you don't want to be a part of it. Might as well be a part if right?

Now you may be wondering as am I what the point of this is. Well I guess there is really no point to it. You may take from this whatever you feel so inclined to and then do what you will with it. Perhaps you can add this to your story that you call "my life".

I once asked someone a question, if you lost your memory of the last 5 years did you ever really do any of those things? If you have no recollection of them do they still shape your life. Some may say "well of course they do". Others may have the opposite viewpoint. I wish I knew but I do not know. Can a person really change who they are? If you lose your memory are you free to be a new person. Go from Bad to Good? Are you still a bad person should you lose your memory and forget that you were? If that is the case can you perform the same change when you never lose your memories? If not I guess it is our memories that shape us into the person that we see in the mirror everyday.

Well I hope that makes some sort of sense, but I think I am going to wrap this up now and move on to make some more memories. I just hope that I can make many more of them and that they can be great memories. So that perhaps I can be a good boy.

What is right?

Hello to all of my fellow blog viewer people. I have some more thoughts to put out here for all of the world to view, read, debate, ignore, or whatever it is that you do with them.

A friend once posed a great point that has stuck with me for years. I think that it is time that I share it now with all of you. He did a wonderful job of illustrateing the point to me, and I hope that I can do the same for you.

I told him something once, what it is I don't remember and it is not too important right now, and he asked me this great question. "How do you know?" How do you know your right? What I said was a fact, er well at least the way that I said it it was. However he was exactly right. How did I know that I was right? He asked me how I knew what I was telling him was true and told him some one told me. Well how do I know that they were right? I can't really.

There are so many things that we just take as fact and then tell other people and just because we heard it. From the most complex concepts down to the most simple of ideas. We, being you and I, are really experts and know FACT about very little, and yet we act like we know more than we do. There is nothing wrong with this behavior. It is something that we need to do from time to time. But when your just talking amongst friends? Why do this? Why not just simply say I don't know?

I don't know. That is something that we are afraid to say, and it seems that the smarter we get it gets harder and harder to say that. The more we get involved the more we start to dread saying those words to others around us. Sure we think it, and we wish that we could tell people but the fear keeps us from doing so.

I am guilty of this behavior all of the time, and I forget that there are things that I don't know and that it does not make me any less of a person for saying those words. When I see others say those 3 words if anything I like them more cause they did not feed me any BS about what I asked. When I ask a question I want to know the facts and the answers and not to be given a answer in such a way that I think that you really knew what you were talking about. I assume that all other people feel somewhat similar to this.

Well I need to leave the panera bread and go on with my activities for the evening. I hope that this makes sense, and if I get the motivation required I will come back and add to this.

So remember to ask yourself, Is it really. . the truth? Is what I know right. Can I say I don't know?

"The Secret" or well the lack of.

I am thinking about starting my video blog pack up again. We shall see how motivated I get to do that.

Well now on with the rant and blogging.

As I am sure many of you out there in cyberland, and even the rest of you that are not have heard. there is a new DVD out. Well I am not sure if it is new, but it is really starting to get out there in the word for people to see. The DVD is "The Secret". Now I have seen it many times, and I saw it at the first of the year, before it had gotten out in the major bookstores.

Something so odd is the title "The Secret" is ironic as this DVD is far from secret. As it is now ALL OVER THE PLACE. I see it everywhere on the web, and it does not even seem to have a trend as to the type of web page that it apears. It is something that people seem to just fall in love with.

Now jsut to preface this just tad, this is a book about the priciple of the Law of Attraction. (now call the LoA in this blog.) Which is everything that happens in your life you attract into it. It does not matter if it is good or bad or if you want it or not. Just to sum it up in a nutshell.

Now when I first saw this, I fell in love with it and the concept of anything that I want I jsut need to think about and want it a lot and it will be here to grace my life. The DVD does a wonderfull job of teaching this concept to you and if you want to truely understand it then you need to watch the DVD as they have carefully planned how to teach it to you so you learn it all and alos will be captivated by it.

Now if you do not know what the LoA is then you might not understand the rest of this from here on. I am going to assume that you all know what the LoA is fully from now on.

I highly recommend the DVD to anyone that wants to improve on the quality of their lives. I truly do want people to see this. the thing that I do not want is for people to believe all aspects of what they teach in the DVD. There are many things there that do not seem to fit for me. They just don't make sense. I am only going to talk about those points as the DVD covers all of the good stuff very well.

According the the LoA if your car was broken into you attracted it to you. or if you found a ten dollar bill on the road you attracted it to you. Or if you got the flu then you attracted it to you. Or perhaps you got a new car you attracted it to you. Or if the 8 year old girl that does not even know what rape is gets raped she attracted it to herself. Now all of those are true according to the LoA. Even the girl that got raped. According to the LoA it is her fault that it happened. Some of you right now are thinking that is crazy, she could not have. Well if you are a true abstractionists well then yes she did. Now I do not believe such a crazy thing.

Ok how about a new one. you want a million dollars and you find a lotto card on the road that has not been used yet. so you take your finger do some scratching and BAM!! your now a millionaire. You attracted it to yourself, congrats.

so how come most people have an easier time believing that we attract the good things in even if they are extreme and yet we have a hard time accepting the bad things. Like when someone get killed. Oops you should not have attracted that killer to come to your house, steal all of you things, rape and then kill you. Tisk tisk. Ok come on that is a little harsh Terrell. Ok as I said I do not fully embrace the LoA. I think that there are good and true principle and concepts that go with the the LoA.

I believe in the life force, and energy given off. There is too much out there that shows that is all real. I believe that positive thinking works and is a real thing. However. you can have all the life force you want shooting out of your brain think as positive as you would like and run east and look for a sunset. I is not going to happen sorry. Every day you will be sad and disappointed.

But the LoA says that if you could attract anything to yourself. Well I want. . . blank. The concept is so enticing that we as humans just lap this stuff up. We want more and more and more of it. It is the more for less concept. something from nothing. It is magical. I am a magician on the side and I want so badly for magic to be real. and there are tricks that when I see them performed and I think wow that looks like real magic. I could do real magic. then I learn how to do it, and I am always sad to find out that it is FAR from real magic. there is always a trick to it no matter how real it looks.

Well The LoA is not magic, no matter how much you attract it to be. It is not going to end all of your problems. Sure it will help you feel better, but it is not as real as we all think it is. As I said before there are things that go with the LoA that are very very real, and I embrace all of the true parts of it and I am glad they are getting out there, but I am sorry to tell you that there are lies and twisted truths in this DVD. If you would like to know more in depth please by all means message me and I will be glad to direct you to what they are.

Watch the DVD and take things away from it, but please think about all parts of it first. I refuse to believe that we attract all things in our life both the good and the bad. I am a religious man and I am not going to take the religious spin on this, but I will have a later blog that will tell you my viewpoints on that aspect of it. Then you will really see where I am coming from as the religious angle is a very large on for me and my belief system.
