Letter from a soldier about Obama's visit

This is a letter that I was given from a soldier currently serving overseas. His views about Senator Obama's visit is most interesting.

*disclaimer: The name of the soldier has been removed from the bottom of the letter so as to not have his name smeared on the web, and this is a real letter from a family friend, and not just some stupid chain letter that gets passed around to the point where no one knows if it is even real or not.  Just to clear up any thoughts of this being a fake letter.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone,
As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to 'The War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States. I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he
really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

In service,

American Soldier

I don't know where this guy was (if he's really a soldier) but apparently he missed what really happened.

Just to clear up. I don't like Obama, but I don't like John McCain any more than him. I don't know what I am going to do as I have no one to vote for.

First this person was not stationed in either of those videos shown, and also both of those locations there was media cameras watching him so of course he is going to be on good behavior. The letter was from an account of when the cameras were off. And to mention that the first video was an event where people come to see him. So again, of course he is going to be one good behavior,

Snopes de-bunked this.

I don't need Snopes to know that this is totally "bunk!" Just look at it! These whinings don't sound like a soldier!

This alleged soldier claims to NOT be a very political person and then goes into a politically-charged rant!

If not for the alleged Obama incident, does it sound like he was planning to vote for Obama? If this was the sole incident upon which he is basing his voting decision, he's not very bright.

Obama got into a bullet-proof car? Any visiting dignitary (including McCain) would have been treated the same way.

An alleged soldier knows that you CANNOT control the schedule of a visiting dignitary.

Whose idea was it to line up to shake hands BEFORE Obama blew them off? A Sgt? A Lt? A General? And now, allegedly, it's Obama's fault?!! Get real!!!!!

An alleged Battle Captain would NEVER confuse Commander-In-Chief (to whom they have sworn allegiance) with Commander-And-Chief. I've NEVER been a soldier and I know better than that!

Typical Internet rumor: It's a friend of a friend (or friend of a family member).

No real "meat" here! Only real "CRAP!!"
